I know you need 3 ident tissues (1 for shcematic 2 for power handlers). So does this mean that I can make 2 pistols if I have 5 ident tissues like some of the other weapons??

it certainly does - but you would need an extra barrel and an extra schem - effectively you save on 1 tissue

But you can't get 2 pistols out of 1 schematic as there are only single barrels dropping.
