Thread: Do you support sliced weapons on vendors?

As a Master Smuggler who is in the process of adding Master Weaponsmith, I've been at odds with most folks on the Smuggler forum. They are pushing very hard to have sliced weapons removed from vendors.

I wonder what weaponsmiths think? This would seem to hurt business because all base weapons would be relatively generic. Most smiths I know who have a vendor also have a spot for premium sliced weapons.

How do you feel about the removal of sliced weapons from vendors?

Once the smuggler revamp / changes to slicing hits live, I don't think this will be an issue anymore.

Well they usually charge extosionate prices for them anyway....Like T21's with about 520 max sliced go for 1.6 million on most vendors that sell sliced items. So for a pretty normal slice i can buy 80 Rifles. And get them all sliced and end up with about 10 520max rifles for 1.6mill.... I saw a vendor with 212max nym VK's for 380k each....Normal price is 7500 on the vendor.... I could buy 50 VK's for that and get myself about 8 of them for 380k lol... Now just detract the 5k per slice % and you will still end up with about 5x more of the same high damage/speed weapon for the silly price AS charge...

Before you flame - NOT ALL WS do it.

Same with anyone who sells stuff on a vendor. If an ite, sells for 1 million on the forums. They put it for 1.5 mill on the vendor...strange eh!

First of all, if someone is charging exhorbitant (think that's the word you were looking for) prices for sliced weapons, by all means don't buy from them and find someone more reasonably priced or buy a crate of T-21's and get them sliced. I sell 33% and better T-21's (543 max and up)for 300-400k but I sell poor dmg or speed slices for less than the unsliced cost so it evens out. Furthermore, we sell unsliced as well so there's no room to complain about our sliced prices, if you don't like them just buy unsliced and get them sliced on your own.

As for the VK's, those are obviously Nym's enhanced VK's, so you're never going to find them for 7.5k credits, because the smith has to pay someone for the High Powered Vibro Motors. I pay 100k each for the HPVM's, and half of them speed slice which renders them fairly worthless, so if you saw a pair of 212 max for 380k and you thought it was a ripoff then you don't know what you are talking about. You can slice a million unenhanced vk's and you'll never hit 212 max because normal vk's top out at about 198 with a 35 slice (based on 147 max). Instead of complaining about the high price of enhanced vks, why don't you just go to Lok and loot some yourself and take them to a WS to craft. He'll probably want a share of the motors to compensate for his time and materials but you could probably get as many as you are willing to loot this way.

Personally, I say sliced weapons on vendors should be subject to search and seizure (confiscation) of contraband goods. Smuggler merchants should have a better chance of getting away with it, perhaps by outright bribery (money sink). I mean, really., they're putting in a galaxy-wide vendor search? Think the Empire wouldn't assign someone to look through the listings for contraband offerings?

Personally, most of the sliced weapons I've sold were from a single crate of PH's I had sliced for myself.

Oh, and I think Aajax was aiming for "extortionate"

I have never liked sliced weapons, armor and spiceon vendors.

1. They are supposed to be illeagle for both factions.

That's just my 2 cents

However, the convience is nice. I remember a time before selling sliced weapons on a vender was in that it would take sometimes hours or days of spamming for a smuggler to slice. I think the devs allow sliced weapons/armor/spice for that reason because it can get very frustrating to try and get equipment sliced, but I can also see the point thata smuggler that doesn't make weapons or armor getting frustrated because of all the sliced stuff being sold on vendors.

If you dont price your top slices that way people will just buy the absolute best and leave the crap slices on your vendor and that is worse than having it empty imho. a Linear pricing scale just doesnt work that wwell since everyone wants only the best so put that 35% slice up at some huge price and let the one that wants it the worst buy it. Everyone else can be happy and buy lesser slices for amounts ranging all the way down to 1/4 of unsliced price
