ok so i know the basics about crafting but the experimentation thing just has me boggled.. can someone explain the different values that each type of experimenting does? i.e i know there are 4 types, (damage etc. dont know the others and im at work so i cant look them up right now). 1) which type is best to experment on? 2) which one lowers speed/ increases damage. 3) which one increase durability? 4) can someone explain what the different final resultsmean. i know min damage and max damage.. is the lower the speed the better? what is that % number that is right after max damage andwhat are the other #s for.. thanks for the help in advance.

Here's a brief run down. There's more info in the Stickies on this forum.

On final assembly of a weapon, you have 4 lines (usually):

Damage

Durability

Efficiency

Range

The Damage line affects the speed of the weapon, the minimum damage, the maximum damage, and the Wound %.

The Lower the speed the better. The higher the Min/Max Damage and Wound% the better.

The Wound % determines if you inflict Wounds on your target when you hit them. (Check the Holocron if you're not sure what these do).

Durability determines the Condition of the weapon. The higher the condition, the longer it lasts.

Efficiency lowers the Health Action and Mind costs of using Special attacks with the weapon. The Lower these are, the better.

Range modifies the Range Modifiers on weapons. On Grenades it also increase the Ideal Range band itself (this is a good thing). It's generally accepted that the higher the Range Modifier, the more likely you are to hit the target.

For the most part, the only thing that matters a damn is the Damage line. Most people will simply look at the Max Damage and the Speed of your weapon, and that's all they'll care about.

Until you're comfortable with this, don't worry too much about the other lines. Once you get a handle on it, experiment for yourself, and get a feel for the system.

And don't let it drive ya nuts.

thx that helped some. so the % thingy is the wound chance. i guess that means the higher it is, the better chance of doing damage right?

here is my next question. im also doing brawler 1h right now and i am weilding a sword, im on my 4th tier in brawler now.. the stats on the sword i made are min 24 max 84 wound % 13.9 speed is 4.1 i think.. is that a "good" sword for what im using or is there a better.. thats non-sliced and experimentation in damage btw.

next question is on the weapon power-ups.. can someone explain what the numbers on them mean and what is a "good" power up.. ive come across mind, health, action + modifiers and im not sure if that is good or bad.

thx again for the help

No.

It's the % chance of dealing a wound. Go check Wounds in the Holocron (CTRL+H), under Healing.

No.

The best weapon you could be using at the moment would be the 1-Handed Curved Sword. It'll do far more damage, far faster.

< can someone explain what the numbers on them mean and what is a "good" power up.. >

Well, a +16% max damage powerup will add +16% of the weapons damage again.

In the case of your 84 max damage sword, if you put a 16% Max Damage powerup on it:

16% of 84 is 13.

Add that to 84, and the weapon now does 97 Max Damage.

thx brilyn that info really cleared up alot for me. i understand the damage power ups now but i still have a question on the other types of power-ups .. for instance, when i make a melee power up, sometimes the effect i get is a +2.2795 (ex) mind addition or a .6000 action modifier.. those sort of things.. i guess my question is, do those lower the amount of mind/action that it takes to do special moves or do they increase that amount..

They lower it.

Basically, they do whatever is beneficial.

So they increase damage, but decrease Speed and HAM costs, and Increase Range modifiers.

Make one and drop it on a weapon, and you'll see.

You can just remove them after (you'll lose the powerup though).
