I've always just recommended afk'ing it overnight, couple friends just did it next to a trainer in eisley.
Like Shug said, just find a sweet spot and afk it overnight.
A short macro will help with the "pop-up" ads that will stop you from surveying:
either:
/ui action defaultButton;
/pause 20;
and loop it, or you can stand up every now and then but I like the defaultButton one, because it gets rid of the pop-u boxes.

Do the pop-ups actually stop you now? They never used to, it just meantyou had a load of boxes to cancel in the morning.

I think the one that says 'high concentration is loctaed nearby, do you want to concentrate....' does stop your surveying. But it's been a looong time since i had to afk survey macro. And back then it ate up so much action that I had to stand, sit, pause for the action regen, stand, survey...when you started surveying again, you ignored the box, so they would pile up and you'd have a load of them to get rid of in the morning.
Now the action cost is so low or the regen is so high, you can just start surveying and leave...so you don't really have to change posture.
Still took me a long time to get through all of weaponsmith.
