Is a Vibro Blade Unit used in the making of VK's? And does it really improve its stats?

Yes, VBU's are required to make VKs, that one appears to be a loot drop. A weaponsmith can make much better ones by hand

Just be careful on a rare occaision an exceptional/legendary version may get looted!
