Gunfighter here and have a question for you guys. I have an fwg5 and I just got the message saying that it's wear or whatever it was is down to 50%. News to me...I've only been in the game for a month now and didn't even realize this. I went looking at new ones, and for a gun that does about the same damage, everyone is asking like 1.5 million. Someone told me that I need to get the gun repaired, but sometimes the weapon gets completly destroyed.

My question is how reliable are the kits? Should I just look for a master weaponsmith? I know you guys can't guarantee if it will be fixed or not...but if any of you are on flurry and you have a pretty good success rate send me a tell or an in game mail. It's Romero Zombie

Best advice I can give you is find a Master Weaponsmith. I just got novice and I'm a pistoleer/smuggler also. Went to fix my Krayt FWG5 and it broke

I repair guns on a regular basis. The better quality the repair tool you have the more chance of sucess you'll have and the less durability you will lose. Also if the person repairing the gun stands next to a crafting station then you will have better results. I personally have a +4 weapon repair skill tape in my clothes and if i use 99.9% effectiveness weapon repair tools i never fail the repair and the weapon usually only loses between 25-40 durability

Howdy;

Tossed on this one. I was selling them and had to replace a few weapons so figured that they required a WS - so I mailed all who had purchased them to ask for them back. All but one said repaired fine - so dunno.

Currently I have NO dead weapons and only lose about 50 durability per repair. I suspect there is a Point system building somewhere unseen because it used to not be this good. ALSO - twice now the max HP went UP !?! Didn't know it could even do that. Not much, 5 once and 8 another. But up is up, heh.

I have a suit of clothes that totals +10 weapon repair and went and bought a bunch of weapons to see if it affected anything here's what I found.

It appears that around 3 things can happen when you repair a weapon. It can lose 5% max condition 20% max condition or be destroyed. Also if the current condition is greater than the 5% reduction it still removes the 5%. For example a 990/1000 condition gun repaired with only minor blemishes ends up at 950/950.

It also looks like the single greatest factor in success is the quality of the weapon repair tool. The current condition has little to no bearing on the rate of success and in the most SOE like fashion it looks like the weapon repair clothes actually make it more likely to lose 20% condition instead of 5%

I haven't tried standing next to a wepaon crafting station so no help there

stand next to a crafting station? first I heard of that. I guess it couldn't hurt to pull out my stupid droid

what I'm curious about is decayed repair tools, when you die, they decay, you can insure them, do decayed tools affect the repair?

If i have a 99.3% repair tool, and I die 10 times, does that bring down the FR? I mean the tool states it has the same repair rate, but I'm curious about this, if I die.

I just always destroy my repair tool now, to be on safe side.I have a crate, and crated items are unaffected.

This is pretty much what I have found too. I don't think your skill as a Weaponsmith matters one bit, but since I use 99.6% tools, I usually get the 5% reduction on max condition.

hehe i love it. the same thread over and over again.the fact that the same post comes up isn't funny.soe should just squash this once and for all.but the theories behind the repair posted by players is funny.like a bunch of women telling old wives tales.(no offence directed to women)really the only thing that has any direct affect on reapairs(hehe other than luck ! )is the quality of repair tools.i have two accounts, one of which is a master weapon smith.like everyone else i wondered what role luck played in the repair.

without printing the entire series of my experiments i will tell ya that my alt repaired just as many weapons and every bit as well as my master weaponsmith.crafting stations, assembly mods, dead cats in a graveyard at midnight, whatever.it dosent matter.get a decent repair tool and you stand every bit as good of a chance of reparing your own weapon as any master smith.believe that.

untill soe decides to give us better info and exactly what affects weapon repair,(condition of the weapon prervious to its repair,or the amount of times it has been repaired previously, who knows)you should all know this: there are no mods listed as weapon repair ANYWHEREin the weaponsmith tree.the only variable that any has any control over at this time is repair tool quality. any body who can provide real proof (something form soe) to indicate anything other than repair tool qulaity affects should post where this info was obtained and from what source (pretty much anything other than a post directly from the dev's is gonna be speculation and should be dismissed)

and untill that day comes, all you can do is use the best repair tools u can find and cross your fingers!!

Degraded repair kits can be a problem.

I've died several times and even though I always do an insure all, I've noticed that my weapon repair kits are down to 56% on the screen that lists degraded items after you die and come back as a clone.

This is also a problem for crafting kits. Even though I have +15 rating kits, I noticed I was getting a lot of failures and moderate successes. Swapped out my kits with fresh ones from a crate and instantly got all great successes on experimentation.

So, even though you can't see the damage done by cloning because it doesn't show on the examine screen, its there. And the best solution is to leave your repair kits and crafting kits in your house instead of hauling them around.

Ok, quest for you guys: when should I repair my weapon? At 50%?

I've got a really nice NS vibro unit LVA that I want to keep in tip-top shape, and I'm fretting about when I will need to repair it (it is degrading very quickly unfortunately).

Thanks,
StGabe.

FYI, the lance has degraded about 60 points in an hour and a half . . . ugh. 2.6s delay LVA with 150-420 damage.
