Thread: Sometimes, resource requirements for weapons just don't make sense.

I was just wondering why several of the weapon schematics call for specific resources, when those resources almost always have poor stats for the weapon you're making?

Say you're making a blaster, and the final result is based 50% on the Conductivity and 50% on the Overall Quality of the materials you use, but the schematic tells you to use resources that typically have extremely poor stats in those areas. A specific example is the SR Combat Pistol. Has anyone ever wondered why they suck so bad? I'll tell you why they suck so bad: they require Neutronium Steel (Steel typically has Conductivity lower than 400, and Overall Quality is completely random and runs the gamut) and Plumbum Iron (Iron is usually worse than Steel when it comes to conductivity, and again, Overall Quality runs the gamut). This would be like telling me I can make a nice sword, with the stats based 100% on the Shock Resistance of the materials, and then telling me that I *must* use "Fragile Glass" as a major component, when "Fragile Glass" has a maximum possible Shock Resistance of 200. I mean, really, what's the point?

I think this is why we see so many of the weapons that will acceptmore generalizedmetals in the schematic (DL-44, Scout Blaster, etc.); you can just use really good Copper and/orAluminum for those. I think this is also why we see so many of the more complex weapons with poor stats; those stats are based on materials that simply are not suited to making the item, but the schematic leaves you no choice.

Maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part for all weapons to have a use. As it stands now, many weapons are never touched because they are almost impossible to craft with any sort of quality.
