Thread: Materials question from a non-WS

hi all,
do you mind if I ask a question about materials?
I want to get the 'best' scythe i can made, so I want to source the best materials. I went to swgcraft, but it seems down right now. Ofc, even if it was up, i still wouldnt understand it.
I've done some reading on getting a scythe made, and there's been some conflicting advice as to what material *quality* i should look for. I know I need;
Carbonate Steel
Phrik Aluminum
Neutronium Steel (for making the swordcores)
Some faqs say look for good SR, others say look for high OQ. This is my issue.
Any advice, please?
ps: i know most WS will stock this stuff, but I would still like to know for myself.
pps: can you name the 'best', or does it vary from server to server? my server is Sunrunner.

at the moment i dont have a schematic, and i've no experiance making them, not being a master. best thing to do is ask a WS on your server, chances are they will have resources to make it, and probably stockpiled some from a past spawn with good values for every eventuality. as the current spawns aren't that good for your needs really, like some not being available

swgcraft is back up, and i have read the faq many times.
My question is about materials only.
i guess i should ask;
what Carbonate Steel will give me the highest damage scythe?
what Phrik Aluminum will give me the highest damage scythe?
what Neutronium Steelwill give me the highest damage scythe?
is SR the thing to look for, or OQ?

I'd also ask a weaponsmith on your server what the names are if that's what you're looking for. But all the info is on that thread as fars as the crafting process you just need to scroll down.

Why do non-WS insist on collecting their own resources to have a weapon made? If a WS on your server doesn't have "the best" resources available there is something wrong.
It's good to educate yourself on what goes into weapon so you know the right questions to ask but trying to get resources yourself seems a bit foolhardy. The best resource may not be spawning and may have spawned months ago and not for sale anywhere.

Have to agree. Any MWS worth their salt will already have the best resources to ever spawn on your server. In many cases the best resources will have spawned months ago and you might not even be able to find them. You're better off spending your time to find the best yellow cubes and geo pastes that you canto go into the scythe. Leave the rest to your WS.

within 30mins of finding out it was sr, sr and ut i had acquired 1000units of each [1000sr, 1000sr and 706ut].
there ARE otherways to get minerals, for those of you who thought i wanted to go and and mine some
lol

You found Phrik aluminum with 1000 SR? I thought it was gated at around 900 SR or so. Or am I just misunderstanding you?

My little list says the following:
phrik has a max sr of 900
carbonite has a max sr of 965
neutronium has a max ut of 718
but the best way would be to look on swgcraft.com:
find resources
select your server
select the typ of steel/alu
then put in 100 on the sr or ut box(depends on the steel/alu you selected)
then search and sort on the rating to get the best spawn right down the names in your note window and ask a master ws if me has that stuff and let him build you a scythe

I'm intrigued. I most definitely do NOT have "the best" resources available. And there is nothing wrong. Well, other than the elitist attitude....
Then again, you indicate the solution right away:

I didn't say EVERY WS would have the best resources. I said A WS, some WS somewhere on that server is going to have the best resources gathered. It's part of being the Elite WS. I've only been a WS for a few months and already have most of the resources at near the max stats. I'm by no means an Elite WS, I've not made a name for myself but if someone came to me for a scythe I do have the resources to max the stats on it.
