Are these possible to make? I hear about all the Krayt pistols out there, so I am just curious if only ranged weaps are made because those are most popular or if it is because Krayt tissue can't be used for melee weaps?

nope.

krayt tissue goes into blaster power handlers. So no melee, and not some ranged weapons.
