My guild, the Hooded Nomads, is looking for feedback, I was wondering what might be the interest level for a toolwe have been working on. It's a Microsoft Access database application we have developed. You can do the following:

Enter Resources - Enter resources that you have stockpiled. Tracks all stats (ER, CD, CR etc). See screenshot here:

All resource categories are available, not just what weaponsmiths use. This database could be used by any type of crafter profession.

Search/List Resources In Stockpile- Search resources and display weighted values. See screenshot here:

In the screenshot, you can see that I have it only show Iron resources, and displays in desending order the best results from a 66% conductivity and 33% overall quality stat weight. You can be generic in the filter of resources, for example have it show all Inorganics, or very specific, for example only show Polysteel Coppers.

In the screenshot you see that you enter what resources are used in the schematic and the exact category. This is important later on when you want to display resources that match from your stockpile tables. Notice that you enter the schematics stat weights. The form will also let you enter subcomponent data, and the form calculates the total number of resources used.

Display Matching Resources - From the schematic form you can select two buttons, Best and All.

This screenshot shows the form that opens after you click on the "All" button. All resources in your stockpile that match the resource categories for the resources used in the schematic are shown. They have a calculated stat weight value column and it's quite easy to see which of your resources from your stockpile would be best used for this schematic.

This screenshot shows the form that opens after you click on the "Best" button. Only the resource that has the maximum calculated stat weight and matches the schematic's resources categories is shown. This quickly gives you a list of your best resources to be used in the schematic.

Some other features are being considered for development:

To be able to punch in how many items I want to make in a factory, select the schematic and it would show me a shopping list of the appropriate resources and quantities.

Vender Price List Generator. I would like to be able to copy a schematic over to another table where you select the exact components (regular or advanced subcomonents) and it calculates a price based upon some rules you enter for price per unit on the resources used. Still looking at how this would work. Having been a Master Architect and now Master Weaponsmith, I know there are many different ways to calculate what you would like to charge for an item. I would like to make the database very flexable in generating a price list for the crafter.

One suggestion was that on the resource stockpile table I could have a field for price per unit. Then you could set your prices on the final product by the rarety/value of the resources used in the product.

This is an area I could use some community feedback, how do you set your prices?

Please respond with what you think about this database as a crafters tool. This is a guild project and we are still considering what we would want as compensation for the tool. Wewould like feedback on what you think is the value of such a tool and what you would consider paying for it (in game cash, real cash or maybe we'll just want to further our guild recognition and release it for free).

My only concern as a Starsider crafter is that this would end up in the hands of my competition

We wouldn't want that now would we?!?

I like the idea. I currently use a porgram created by a guy named Ziam (I think that is right) This allows you to do a little of what you are talking about. Allows you to enter schematics and all of the resources that you own. it then calculates what resource is best to use for the schematic that you choose. Adding all of the options that you are talking about would be great.
