Thread: Start exp % question

A few days ago i finally got some duranium steel and decided to try Adv. Balster Rifle Barrels. Made my first one, it started at 16% experimental on all 3 stats. I used my experiment points and got it up to 65/16/30. The 65% was a max, so I used the extra 3 points on the Range.

Now, I should have made a schematic, but I had one moderate success and figured I would make some more anyway. Well, the problem is I have never been able to get a starting exp % over 10....With a stat of 10% even if I get great success with all my points, the barrel is not much better than I can make regular barrels.

I used the same materials for all tries. Is this a bug, was my first try a fluke? What's going on?

The main reason to use an advanced rifle barrel, over a standard one is for the far higher ideal range modifier. The main reason to use a standard rifle barrel over a normal one is for a speed advantage.

With the materials I have an advanced barrel gets 5 points for damage and5 points for range. As both catagories cap out at 5 points each.

I am having a similiar issue.

I got 22% Damage twice... and now I cant get it again. It wont go above 14%. Even with a very similiar metal, I still only get 14%.

i've noticed this and so have alot of weaponsmiths... it informs you of a great assembly and the stats are FAR above what even an Amazing assembly will get you (I get the amazing assemblies quite frequently with +assembly clothing)... more often than not when you go to experiment on the amazing-great assembled product you will find a higher % of failures... the community has been working on a formula for projecting the final max experiment % but these amazing-great assembliesdefy the rules theorized so far

When I made the first 'fluke' barrel it was 6 points higher in both min and max damage than my std barrels as well, which is nothing to sneeze at. When starting at 10% the barrels are 1 point higher in each. The materials available right now are terrible, so every few points count.

yes... every point counts... esp with those fluke assemblies... even with NEAR perfect resources for regular barrels, my ADV barrels leave the regular ones in the dust (+2-3 damage, speed is only 0.1 different)... with time and effort (and a few prayers to the resource database gods) you can get the regular assembly on the rifle barrels to be 12-14% (the CD on Rhodium gates the schematic so fricken low)... each time i get that 'fluke' assembly you can bet money i'll have at least 1-3 moderates on the experimentation...
