Thread: Are Weaponsmiths leaving the game.....lack of demand for weapons?
Seems alot of people are playing TKA now which doesnt require weapons.
I have noticed alot of master weaponsmiths by trade not playing anymore.
Does the lack of Krayt tissue and weapons getting nerfedplay into this?
I know it was a big part of the game to get krayt pistols made.
Players using pre-nerfed weapons....or just going TKA ?
What is in demand for Weaponsmiths now?
Just curious.....
I'd have to disagree. There's very high demand for alot of the lower level weapons because of all the holo grinding. People dropping and learning new skills, weapon still sell well , especially off the bazaar. If I list 25 guns on the bazaar they will all be sold in a day or 2. As for higher end guns , with the high number of vendors out there, its hard to attract much attention to my vendors. I really wish they would make it so that empty vendors wouldn't advertise on the planet map... would eliminate wasted trips and lots of frustration. Just my 2 credits..

There are lots of WS' leaving the craft but it's not because of low demand for weapons. I'm selling at least 40-50 a day now, and that number shows no sign of slacking, I sold like 450 this weekend (Sat-Mon) after sending out an update.
I think the issue that drives people away is two-fold.
1) At some point this just becomes a job, deal with resources, build stuff... move on.
2) A lot of the same basic annoying questions, I think I've been asked 10 times in the last week 'Can you build me a Krayt FWG5'.
It really becomes arduous at some point. 99.9% of my mentors are gone, and 45% of people I'd consider my 'peers' have quit too.
I'm leaving the profession this week after doing nothing else since launch. I've made my millions and filling vendors and doing custom orders just takes WAY too much time. I want to hunt with my guildmates for a change.
Plus, I think I should finally put my 535 max dmg (after powerup) fwg5 to use on some imps... it's been sitting idle far too long. ![]()
Many of the old timers have left, but that's okay. Most of the old time CH and BHs and such have quit/switched professions too, but there are tons of new weaponsmiths. Some hologrinding, some just because they heard it was a good place to earn millions of credits, and some who actually want to make weapons for a while
That's the way the cycle is supposed to work.
I'm getting decent business myself. One thing that has personally been discouraging to me is that the metals for a lot of weapons seriously suck in my galaxy (Intrepid). Plumbum Iron used in Republic Blasters and AdvancedProjectile Feed mechanisms has 2-3 stats below 100. This makes experimentation start at about 10% which everyone knows, sucks bad. Desh Copper used for Advanced Vibro Motors is horrible as well. A bunch of the items I need to make advanced Blaster Pistol Barrels drags them down to about 11-11 component damage and a horrible speed too.
It just sucks. I'm a perfectionist, and I won't even put non-advanced weapons out for sale. Problem is, even the advanced weapons suck with the materials that are currently available. Makes the game a lot less fun. I have thought about quitting Weaponsmith quite a few times already. I'm gonna hold on a little while longer and hope the metals improve on the next patch.

Eola summed up it best for me. I've been a master since the first week of August. I'm sitting on so many resources.. I know I need to craft, but Heck.. it's a job not a game anymore.
Weaponsmiths would gag if they knew that our current plumbum on Intrepid is 1000 OQ. So CO sucks - it always does. In fact, many resources have ceilings on certain properties, such as copper with SR, and iron with CO. In time you'll learn them, but that's what makes a master weaponsmith a master weaponsmith
