Thread: Lowca Weaponsmiths, sound off
Before I even consider doing the work to become a weaponsmith on Lowca I want to know what kind of competition I'm up against.
Lately I haven't seen >ANY< but that's just around Bestine. If there's a flood of them on other planets I'll look at something else, if they are as rare as it seems I may well look at supplementing my income ![]()
Hrm... I might have to take some interstellar trips to find some supplies then.
Likely look at something else to take up...
Thanks folks
Dont listen to those guys, man!
If you want to be a weaponsmith, go for it. If there is anything I cant stand, its people trying to intimidate others out of their own market. Mostof the 'uber' weaponsmiths are deemed 'uber' because of the mystery that surrounds them (ie. non-weaponsmiths dont understand what goes into making weapons, or whatever). In other words, its all a big myth. All weaponsmiths are created equal, and that includes ol Macross over there.
HOWEVER...
The one thing that *does* differentiate a good weaponsmith and a bad one are resources. Its why some of the old guys like Macross, Jennai, Kammi, etc., are far superior than a wet-nosed new Master Weaponsmith. We've have had the time to gather resources from many many different shifts. We've had a lot of choices. Had time to weed out some bad resources, and replace them with good ones that popped up.
In other words... we have a backstock! And thats the key!
SO... what does this all mean? It means that you need to be prepared to take some time to gather resources. It will takea lot of differentshifts, and studying on your part. Grab an easy databaseprogram likeMicroSoft Access, and document whatyouhave, including all the stats. Then go out with your little mineral survey kit, and start sampling whats out there. If you see an Aluminum thats better than the stuff you have in your backstock, then grab it! Common sense here will dictate what you need and what you dont need. Over time, you'll look up, and you'll have a nice backstock of resources, and you'll be able to make weapons as good as anyone else.
Which brings me to a very important point. Weaponsmithing means your job will be 80% resource gathering (either planting harvesters yourself, or just buying from others in the resource trade), 15% community service (talking to people.. getting your name out), and 5% actual crafting.
FINALLY... to the poster that said that some weaponsmiths arent making any money... bah!Thats crap and you know it. Weaponsmiths make a killing, andthat includes the new Master Weaponsmiths with a weak supply of resources. You just gotta know what price point you want to sell at, and do a little advertising. It also doesnt hurt if you are NICE to people. *eyes all theweaponsmiths who think they are the bomb*
So carry on with your quest to Master Weaponsmith! You'll have a lot of fun ifyou thinkthat what I said above is your bag. If youhave any questions orneed training, email me in game, or just send me a tell.
