Thread: Speed Cap What is it?
You can make guns less than 1.0 speed (guildmate had a 0.9 krayt FWG5 that went down to 0.7 after speed slice, someone had a D18 that was 0.4 or something). You cannot attack faster than a rate of 1.0.
Special moves have delay multipliers (BS2 is 1.8x, fanshot 2.4x, stopping shot 4.0x) so even with a 0.7 gun you're not going to be shooting them off at 1.0 unless you're pretty far up in the skill tree and have a ton of speed bonuses.
FYI
I saw in a dev post on swg.stratics.com a while back that they are probably making this firearm-specific. In the example they gave I think they said that rifles would be capped at 3.0 and that pistols might be capped at 0.5. This would leave one to imagine that carbines would be capped at 1.5 or 2.0. Not sure when and/or if they are still planning on this.
Sorry I don't have the link, but I am lazy.
Good question. I have heard that since specials are usually slower than regular attacks, situations where you are normally speed-capped can still see benefits when using some specials. I have also heard that specials are capped at a multiplier of the base (e.g. if a certain special took 2x longer to use it would be capped at speed 2.0). Don't know which is true.
If anyone can clarify, I would be grateful.
Here, this is it.
speed is detailed in the Pistoleer FAQ.
It's weapon speed * special attack delay - (weapon speed * special attack delay * Speedmod/100.
If i had a 2.0 FWG and used stopping shot, 4.0 delay, with pistol speed +74 (master pistoleer value of speed)
It would be 2.0 * 4.0 - (2 * 4 * 74/100)
So, after that equation. Speed caps at 1. So if you had a pistol with .8 speed, it would still be better than one with 1.0 speed. Due to special attack multipliers(You would get closer to the cap with specials).
