Thread: What is the best way to gain xp for novice weaponsmith
hmm i was wondering how im going to make 22k xp give or take some to become a weaponsmith fast. Do any of the rest of you weaponsmiths know of a quick and easy way to gain xp. What is the best item to craft? What item gives the most xp
I've found that bone armor is the fastest way to get to novice weaponsmith. You just need a lot of hides and bones.
Doobacca
Novice Weaponsmith
Kor Vella, Corellia(Radiant)
Well,
Swords with sword cores give the best xp to resources that I've found like 2.1 xp per resource and at 82xp for a sword core and sword there pretty high for xp given.
Projectile feed mechanismsgive I believe 35 xp for 17 resources of which one needs to be steel and one needs to be metal so you can use the same steel for both.
Weapon upgrade kits give 60xp for 30 resources all of which I think are metal, or two metals and oner mineral.
Get with a master weaponsmith and have him sell you4 schematic 100quantityfor the projectile rifle barrel, then go harvest steel, you need 18,500 units, then buy a factory. Run the factory 4 times, takes 1 hour each and you will be ready to advance to your first intermediate level.
For those who like math, a quik way to compute factory build time is as follows:
8*complexity*quantity = seconds to make all items.
Some might consider this an exploit or gaming the game, but when you consider the fact that a D18 pistol made by a novice weaponsmith is worse then a cdef pistol made by an artisian, then it is a workaround.

So basically what your saying is get there as fast as you can so that when you do get there you don't really know what you are doing.
Best thing to grind is whatever uses the least resources and gives you the most xp for those reources. I found it to be generic crafting tools. When you get to Novice Weaponsmith make sure to go up the experimentation tree first. That way when you get to Expert Weapons the items you will craft will be worth the resources that were used to make them. Sure it will take longer. But at least you will have gained the knowledge of how to construct a good weapon and how the properties of your resources are going to impact that weapon. Do the grind. Experiment. Take notes. Rat hole 999% overall quality resources.
"So basically what your saying is get there as fast as you can so that when you do get there you don't really know what you are doing."
No. That isn't what he is saying at all.

Do YOU know what you are doing? Xp is directly related to the number of resources and number of subcomponents. Least resources is the WORST you can do. You want to make the highest resource item with the highest number of subcomponents. This maximizes xp gain while minimizing clicking. Also trying to have fewer resource types saves time on resource gathering.
The answer was given already but I'll restate it. Bone armor. Run destroy missions and pick up hunting to get credits to get your harvesting underway. Use the skins and bones to make bone armor. I did chests at >500 xp a pieceif I recall.
I'll have to agree with the bone armor suggestion. I spent most of my crafting time developing CDEF weapons. This helps me better understand how experimentation works, gives ok xp as well. However, the downside to this is that the market is flooded with them so I wind up destroying 99% of them. In order to accomadate the loss I make a lot of power ups which I sell the ones that are 20% at a bare minimum.
Here's a lil bit of math I did to check with the actual xp I got on bone armor.
Fiberblast Panels (chest plate requires 3)
8 Fiberplast
2 Metal
Total 60 gcxp if you use the 2 xp per 1 resource formula
Bone Armor Segment (only 1 required)
14 Bone
3 Metal
Total 34 gcxp
Bone Armor Chest Plate
105 Hide
40 Bone
25 Inert Petrochemical
25 Metal
3 Fiberplast Panels
1 Bone Amor Segment
Total 484 gcxp
So the grand total of making these gives you 578 gcxp. To confirm this I tested it out in game and received 584 gcxp for the combine. So I probably got some experimentation xp or maybe even uxp. However, I believe that the word on the street is you can't get uxp for something you craft and use yourself. Don't know for sure. Hope this helps.
Well, a few weeks into the game, a friend and I pretty much had figured out how to craft things, the way experience works and what not, and realized we still had a LONG way to go until novice weaponsmiht/merchant. I do recommend figuring out what you're doing resource and experimentation wise before you start grinding away.
What we did was find a spot with decent wood and steel deposits, set up one harvester grabbing each, then sit between them, and macro mine as you craft axes. Delete the axes when your inventory becomes full, and begin again. Alternate what you're mining depending on what you're running low of. Seemed to work good for us as you get close to 100XP per axe. This works out to several hundred axes if you're at 0 GCE.
For a less boring and more lucrative form of grinding, go the personal UXP route. Assuming you've got decent comabt skills, craft several of the best weapon you can make for your class. Then grab two destroymissions in the same direction and use your newly crafted weapons, one on each mission, then destroy it. This way you get user experience for each weapon you craft, weapon experience, and credits...and it's a lot less boring then just sitting and grinding for hours. Not nearly as fast, but a lot less boring.
Jaegersan,
Didn't read your comment about self-generated UXP, before my post. The word on the street is wrong. When Ahazi was down last night, I created a new character on another server, and tested it out, mined steel until I could make a chem survey tool, then mined polymer until I could make a CDEF pistol. Then went and killed some durnis and got more GCE. No way I would have done this otherwise as I'd only crafted 2 things ever with that character and only used the chem surveyor twice. I was pretty convinced before, but now I have no doubt. You DO get UXP using your own items.
Ok, This is the Best and Fastest way there is. i went from Novice Artisan to Master Artisian to Novice Weaponsmith, it only took me 30 minutes of grinding. yeah. thats right, just buy **edit** loads of Steel, aluminum, Copper, Ore.first just build the Cdef Pistol, to get to Engineer 3, then crank out the Harvestors. i first went at did some missions to get money, took me about 2 hours to get enough resources, so
2-Hours
30min
2-30mins to be a novice weaponsmith
hope this helped
