Some people have told me you can, and some people have said you can't. Anyone wanna confirm?

You can.

If it takes a power handler, you can use krayt tissue. If it uses a proj feed mech, you can use gorax bone or spider fang.

Scatter/launcher/FWG5 used to be able to take both, but now the scatter only takes krayt and the other two only take the PFM enhancers. The bowcaster is still able to take both, but using loot parts in a bowcaster is a waste.
