With the rise of spawns of Krayt Dragons, It seems like the only things I'm selling now days as far as firearms are concerned are Krayt enhanced weapons due to how common the base tissues are. I have folks who just give these to me as they loot because they don't make any money selling them.
Leftover ABPH's can go into Scout Blasters and DL44's that do 200 dmg unsliced and w/o power ups. What's the point of making something else unless cold, acid, etc are desired?
This was cool at first, but now is getting to be a bummer and quite simply decreasing the value of firearms I could make using the best resources that took me a long time and over tens of millions of credits to gather. It would drive me NUTS that someone may have on their vendor a non-enhanced weapon that was superior and I would set out to make mine as nice....
There was some satisfaction in seeing a firearm you crafted with a few extra points damage over the other guy's stuff cuz you had invested time and thought into the right resources. That seems to have gone away. Who cares about 2 pts when you're using Krayt tissues? I could use junk, and get +30 minimum to anything I craft w/ intent to sell and not sell out of inventory due to how many tissues at no or little cost I can get my hands on.
Is this bothering anyone else? Maybe it's just me, but I don't just do Weaponsmithing just to make dough, I like the actual crafting part of it too...those couple of extra points were very satisfying and challenging.
The VK's would be a good example of those couple extra points too...on our server, non-enhanced knucklers do from 142-148 max dmg. Well, mine come out 147-148, I get pesonal satisfaction over that knowing that probably the average is 144 on most folks vendors (of course there are others doing theirs at 147-148 too, but I'm in that category).
On my alt character, I am grinding marksman to get the commando tree because I wanna shoot a flame thrower. I needed a carbine. I made a 436 dmg starter carbine (sliced) w/ leftover materials. That's just not right! LOL
Does anyone else kinda get bugged by the loot being so common? I think it takes some of the "art" part out of being a weaponsmith. Sure, an enhanced weapon will better if crafted with better materials, but who cares if the loot is just about free? If you're selling "UBER" weapons, then the quality of thetenhancers are the key, but what about the non-enhanced stuff?
A small rant
Thanks

It bothers me a little. I have noticed a decrease in sales but no biggie. The market will play out, it always does. I have been a smith since august 2003 and have a good base of customers, and its not because i have the best stuff, but its because i have good stuff and i am always stocked. Don't worry too much about it.

I'm sick of trying to store all the damn tissues. Took me 2 hours to get all these tissues a buddy gave me into ABPH's. He gave me like 120 tissues, it was crazy.

Well, in any post that complains about all the loot whether it is uber or not, and how its altering the mindset of customers, I must post the obligatory...
I told you so.
Yeah I was part of that small handful of people that were alarmed when they seemingly raised the amount of rare loot drops in game and was seeing them being sold alot on the forums. That was what like Jan/Feb 2004 maybe. Oh well guess we have to live with the decisions or lack of them in this case that our coorespondant attempted to take at the time when all this started(Logix was the Coorespondant back then I think).

Best I can figure is it's not working as intended or this is soe's attempt to break up huge crafting operations by forcing the ws to hand make a most of their items. If the worse the public will buy is guns with 30's in then that's what you will have to make.
And having to deal with huge fluctuations in supply and prices as they keep turning this on and off is too much for any business.
It's really crazy out there. Seriously you can't finish a spawn before another spawns next to you. People aren't kill stealing for the most part, so a master marksman could walk away with 100 tissue in a couple buffs if he knows how to pull a juvi. Actually, It's getting really boring out there.
There has to be some middle ground between a couple krayts that never drop and an endless supply of them that drop half them time. Always the extremes with this company.

I feel your pain and did the same things like you, waiting for uber resources to make weaps just a bit better than the rest, spending millions getting them. Now with all the krayt and loot drops whats the use anymore. As a weaponsmith we need like every mineral out there to make our goods and all that mining went to waste....Now just add all the enhancements to average resources and I can make better then I did....and with the Smuggler slicing coming....It's not any use to be a WS anymore. At least one that cared about using the best resources and to make a great weapon un-enhanced and un-sliced...Just my thoughts....I will wait for combat upgrade tho to make some wall hangers before I give it up...

Yup. I feel like I've wasted millions and millions of credits and countless hours getting the best resources now. Weapon for weapon I have top stats on average for my server. It seems to matter not at all now. I'm suspending hope that the CU and smuggler revamp will change this. I've been a smith since launch, and the earnings have steadily decreased over time. Of course now I am being a bit stubborn. I'm not stocking krayt stuff. In a bit of a gamble, I'm holding all my tissues until after CU. I'm thinking a couple months into CU the value should rise again. Anyhow, if the weaponsmith prof is not resuscitated by the CU/smuggler revamp it will be time for me to hang it up after a nice long run.

Well, glad to hear I wasn't alone in thinking that. Ya never know whether or not to have a complex! lol
I still enjoy Weaponsmithing, and am looking forward to the new weapons in the future. However, its difficult to measure up your progress when there's so many things that can throw you a curve.
Thanks for responding.

This is what I'm doing also. Hopefully it'll pay off later.

I just make all the tissues into crates and leave them in the output hopper in crate form

I think The extra Tissues are more to help ranged Keep up with melee until such a time as the curb comes out and everything is balanced. Who knows what well experiment on then to make the best weapons. so im buying every tissue I see . when the curb finally comes It may be a gamble but maybe ill have made a good investment.

Im getting tissue offered left and right ingame, and I think the increased krayt tissue drop is great, because now more customers can afford krayt weapons as the prices went a little down (i.e. I sell krayt jawas damage sliced 400 max dmg for 800k, speed sliced krayt weapons around 80k-100k)

Keep hold of some loot for after the CURB
imo the krayt boom should have been AFTER the CURB
You wont see so many people killing krayts solo or in groups of2 after upgrade i dont think
