Introduction

I decided to put this out there for Non-Weaponsmiths such as myself, to save the Weaponsmiths the hassle of answering this question over and over, and to basically have some 1 stop shopping. I would like to credit Stettin, Arrya and Kiran for being my3 sources of information in order to put together this comprehensive guide, to save everyone a lot of headaches and arguments.

So you want an Awesome Gun?

So, you want to put together an awesome gun, but you need to know what to hunt? Or you already have some loots, but need to know what guns they go into? Well, what might be helpful for you non-Weaponsmiths to know is that there are 2 different gun components that take loot enhancements, and different guns take different components. These 2 components are Blaster Power Handlers and Projectile Feed Mechanisms. Now, if you care to be an informed customer read on, but if you just want to get to the good stuff, skip the next paragraph.

Customer Education on what the loots go into:

The reason I bring up both of these items is that you might not always have this list handy, but if your weaponsmith ever goes off into some techno-babble regarding enhancements, you can follow along, and be more informed on what you need, thus allowing you to work closer with the Weaponsmith and allowing the final gun to be a result of more input on your part. The "good-to-know"s on loot and Blaster Power Handlers and Projectile Feed Mechanisms is pretty much as follows, and is simple: Krayt Dragon tissues, High Powered Energy Capacitors, or Large/High Energy Capacitors go into or replaceBlaster Power Handlers and Gorax Shards, High Velocity Feed Mechanisms, Balanced Feed Mechanisms, or Spider Fangs go into or replaceProjectile Feed Mechanisms. The overall consensus is that Krayt Tissues and Gorax Shards are the best items to go into guns, respectively.

How much loot is needed?:

Now, onto the nitty gritty. For you to use loot in a gun, you need one more loot than the gun requires for a Blaster Power Handlersor Projectile Feed Mechanisms. This is because the items need to be run in a factory, which requires one of the loot items to be burned making a schematic for the run ofBlaster Power Handlersor Projectile Feed Mechanisms. The only exception is where 1 Blaster Power Handleror Projectile Feed Mechanism is needed; in that case, a factory run is not necessary, and the item needed can be made directly.

Anyone working in the computer industry, or that has a CS degree, *knows* a) laziness is good and b) laziness pays off.

I'm guessing a fair number of us are geeks.

Spider fangs also go into PFM's. Not sure if they still drop as I had some from pre-CU.

Rancor teeth can be substituted for sword cores.

Thanks. Excellent post. In the post-cu world, what is considered Good in Krayt and Gorax? And what is considered Great?

The rule is this: Any item that requires more than 1 enhanced component (e.g. "take 4 identical from a factory crate") will require 1 loot item for the schematic plus however many are needed for the final assembly.

In English: A WS needs 1 item to create the schematic for the factory run of the component. The rest go into the factory to make a crate of components. The crated components then can be used normally to make the final weapon(s).

You cannot mix and match enhancements even if the stats are the same. What matters is that all the enhancements have the same serial number. It's nice now (post-CU) that enhancements drop as stacks. Any good WS will know to break up the stack before putting the enhancements into a crafting tool or a factory.

Now for basic WS math:
- If you have a stack of 4 tissues, you can make 1 Adv. Laser Rifle. (1+3)
- If you have a stack of 7 tissues, you can make 2 Adv. Laser Rifles. (1+3+3)
And so on.

Something more complicated: If you have a stack of 6 tissues, you can make:
- 1 Adv. Laser Rifle and 1 republic blaster (1+3+2)
- 1 Adv. Laser Rifle and 2 scatter pistols (1+3+1+1)
- 1 DX2 Pistol (1+5)
- 2 republic blasters and 1 scatter pistol (1+2+2+1)
Etc.

And, if you aren't sure, just ask your friendly neighbourhood spiderman, er, WS, and they'll try and answer your question when they aren't totally swamped with things.

I would say (and may the more veteran WSs correct me if I am wrong) that for Krayts, basic is +30 damage (i am cool), average is +70 dmg (I smile), over +100 is darn good (I jump up and down), over +150 dmg (cannot be described here) is outstanding.

The lines do move around a bit of course depending on the weapon!
