I've looked through the faqs and guides, so I apologize if I missed this piece of information.
I have some Iron that is in the high 900s in Shock Resistance and Unit Toughness. It seems like it is great metal to use in crafting melee weapons.
All melee weapons list either Shock Resistance or Unit Toughness as the attributes that affect the crafting and experimentation of the item.
However, this Iron has an Overall Quality in the 300s.
Does the Overall Quality of a resource matter even when it is not listed as an attribute that affects the crafting and experiementation of the item?
If the answer is no, it does not matter, then I have some really good Iron here.
If the answer is yes, it does matter, then there's probably better Iron out in the Galaxy somewhere.
Responses are greatly appreciated!

If the schem calls for SR, all you need is SR. The OQ could be 1 or 1000 and it would not matter.
Hope that helps,

Absolutely. Thank you for that quick response.
I was surprised when I got out to the concentration of this Iron and there were no harvesters around. I'll be pulling this out of the ground for awhile.
