Thread: Experimenting on Range

Well,

If you experiment on range, it will increase certain ranges (Ideal, Long, short..etc) With the increased ranges you will hit more often and harder based off your skill. Hrm, how do i put this....you are more likely to hit more towards the max damage if you are at your ideal range than you are not in your ideal range. Experimenting on range yields little in return and most people want damage/speed. Now a scope will adjust that but still add to your HAM costs. Also, scopes add to wound chance which helps in PVP as you cannot regenerate a wound damage...

Range experimentation is something done after you max out on damage until they change it.

I prolly didnt explain that very well...im sure someone else will jump in.

Ranged experimentation works better on stuff that has a very low range to begin with and a high return. Rocket launchers and other heavy weapons come to mind when I think of ranged experimentation. Otherwise, I prefer to go for durability for loot made weapons and ham otherwise.

You won't make any more damage with a Range Experimented weapon, but you will hit the target more frequently if you are at Ideal Range. I was grinding some pistol skills the other day and was using a scoped d-18 and a non scoped scout. I ended up keeping the d-18 until novice pistoleer because with the scout, I couldn't hit anything at Ideal Range

If you build a scope with a 27%+ on the combine you can experiment the HAM cost out ( you can't get anything below a great success in my testing). And you end up with +10-13 on the ideal range. Not sure what the wound chance is...4 I think. Anyway you don't need to have a scope add HAM cost. Just dump all your points into Efficiency. Not sure about the stats on the advanced.

I've searched high and low for a guide to how combat works, in order to make my weapons better accordingly, with no luck.

Can somebody answer me the following:

Accuracymods - do they increase the damage done when you hit your target, or do they just increase the chance of you hitting the target? I guess here I'm referring to the combination ofall theaccuracy mods - distance+stance+weapon+skill etc.

As a master pistoleer, I pretty much hit my target every time I shoot, so I'm wondering if there's any point adding a scope to my next weapon and/or putting more experimentation into Range to increase the accuracy, at the cost of higher HAM costs.

Thanks

On Bria i use 2 types of scopes depending on what the customer wants, either a +19ideal +1 ham or a +42 ideal +14 ham. Ham is nasty on the last one but some ppl prefer the extra boost to ideal.

I am fairly big on accuarcy. If it takes 3 or 4 shots to actually hit your target, you are going to spend way more HAM per actual hit than if you hit everytime with a good scope.

One thing I have found...

It's possible to make some rifles with accuracy 100+, allowing a rifleman to run and still retain a +40-50 on his accuracy. The guys I know that have used this and paid attention to it, love it.

Thanks to everyone who responded, there's some great information here.

Are we agreed that accuracy increases not only the chance of hitting, but the chance of hitting nearer the weapon's max damage?

That would mean, to go back to my original question, that accuracy does in fact effect damage.

I don't think this is true, but as far as I know no one's done a proper test yet.
