Thread: An Idea for a veteran Weaponsmiths

With everything starting to settle out, and the grinding being done I think it is time to reward weaponsmiths who really enjoy weaponsmithing. I think that the devs should reward weaponsmiths with something like 1 extra expermentation point to use for every four months of weaponsmithing for up to one year. What do you think?

That's not a bad idea - like the forum veteran awards etc

There would still have to be a limit on the number of experimentation points you could have. This could only be awarded once - rather than every four months, if you know what I mean.

I'd suggest this started from when you got Novice WS, not MWS - in fact, it seems to make more sense to rewards a WS this way than for simply grinding their way through the profession in two shakes of a lamb's tail.

I like this idea too...it makes sense.

Not from Novice though. Folks would just pick it up and leave it there while they did other stuff.

I like the idea of a veteran being rewarded overall as master of any profession

EXP points would be too unbalancing... a new schematic, perhaps. For a component, not a complete weapon. Still a very good idea, though!

The reason I suggested starting this at Novice was to take into account people [like myself ]who decide to be a WS but don't then immediately grind their way straight to Master, but take their time to go up the tree by actually making weapons and selling them. OK, I'll admit I ground my way up the Techniques tree, but since then I've sold every weapon I've made, and not done any grinding at all.

Your concern is valid, though. Perhaps the counter could *start* at Novice, but the extra experimentation point (or whatever reward) only granted at 3-3-3-3 or Master or somesuch.

If the reward was to be a schematic, how about each veteran WS getting a random component schematic? I might get a schem for an Expert Blaster Power Handler - but if I want to combine this with an Expert Blaster Pistol Barrel I'd need to organise a trade with a fellow WS who could either sell me crates or a manufacturing schematic (limit of say 50 uses). Just an idea - actually, I rather like the idea of an experimentation point!

The ultimate gift would be to turn the loot schematics into permenant ones.

Or at least add some new stuff.

We already get a ton of content in other professions opinion so I dont know about loot. But a schematic (permanent) for something like a Elite Power Handler or something would be great. Because bottom line in RL you are going to want a master mechanic of 30yrs to work on your car over a master mechanic of 2 yrs. And to explain further. Give +1 exp point to use every four months for one year up to the time of master. For a total of +3 possible, with the +2 from tapes, giving a one-year master with all skill tapes a total expermentation ability of +15 instead of master +10. I don't think that is too much to handle. People who are masters longer should be allowed to make better weapons. Why? because we hung in there and did more than hologrind and drop. Just a thought. and perhaps allow masters the ability to learn the bowcaster schematic from a wookie WS after say three months.

Yeah, I am actually against this, its just another way to make the WS profession hard to break in to as a new smith. Did you guys forget how hard it was to get where you are? Sorry but I guess I am one of the few smiths that actually likes seeing up and coming smiths have a shot at notoriety.

I like the idea of a veteran reward for crafters, but I don't think it should be an extra experimentation point. As pointed out above, it would only make it harder for new crafters to compete. Besides, a veteran weaponsmith should have a very impressive resource collection, which allows them to make better weapons anyways. Instead, I'd prefer a new schematic of some sort, though not for sub-components (for much of the same reason listed above--everyone would only want weapons made with 'Elite Powerhandlers'). But a new type of weapon schematic for veterans would be nice. This would give veterans something new to sell, butnew WScould still make money from the many standard schematics already available to them.

I would like to see a master weaponsmith get +1 uses for loot schematics for every 3 months of being a master. So a Scythe schematic would give a person that has been a MWS for 6 months 4 uses instead of just the reg two. Also, a rare permanent weapon schematic for those that have been a master for a year non-stop would also be a very good idea.
