I'm a wookiee and about to reach Master WS.
The question is, will I actually be able to sell any of my stuff as a 10 point WS (possibly 11 point) because I have yet to make money enough to be able to afford WS skilltapes. All I hear about ae human crafters with 14 points and all, so i fear I won't be able to compete with those. Do those 1-4 extra points really make that much of a difference???

Yeah, you'll still sell stuff. If there aren't many other Wooks who've taken up WS on your server then bowcasters would be a nice market to corner.

what 14? the cap I believe is at 12.

and yes you can sell stuff. I would focus on mass market items like grenades to be honest.

If you can stock, and I mean really stock, a vendor for that, you should be golden.

The 14 is for artisan, not weaponsmith. Humans have a +15 artisan experimentation race bonus, so with SEAs they can reach 140, or 14 points.

Please drop any auction winnings at my vendor on Corellia. It is Abilof Weapons at -1803 2347 just east of the Kor Vella starport or the Fort Qui shuttleport.

Yeah Casters is definately a must for me. I hope after the CURB they'll be as good a choice as any other rifle, so more wookiees will buy them. They look good and add a lot to overall Starwars feel.

I got already orders for mass grenade production, but for that I'll have to stock up on those good resouces first (not to mention a few more factories, lol)...

Points are secondary to resources- though the extra points help, with the resources I use, I can compete. In most cases, the extra points are only allowing me to add to condition.

As a note. I don't do mass items (other than grens). I only do specialty weapons (Krayt, Nym, Acklay enhanced, etc). A bunch more money in those and alot less time.

The difference of the extra 2 points is nice, but it's by no means a requirement.

If you're ever having money troubles, sell crates of C12's. They're easy to make, and if they're cheap enough, people will buy them. 25k for 1 crate of 25 grenades doesn't seem like much, but when you sell 3 factory runs to the same person, it's all cash in pocket because it requires no good resources and only around 70 units in the total production scheme. Powerups are also a good way to get started, but that's more Artisan than Weaponsmith.

With 10 points you can reach the same damage/speed numbers as everyone else. The only place the additional points come in handy is in very slight improvements to HAM and/or Range mods. 99% of your customers are interested in damage above all, then speed, and will likely never even glance at any other numbers.

The place where you may have some trouble keeping up is with custom and rare builds. Many people will want a 12-pointer to build their DE-10 for example, just to have the best chance of avoiding moderate successes (since the WS exp. skill also affects the quality of experimentations). Since that's a one-shot deal, many won't want to leave any more up to chance than is necessary. Also, on the bigger ticket items, people will generally want a 12-pt WS because of the increase in condition that can offer (those extra 100-ish condition pointsare a big deal when you're dumping your life-savings into a single weapon).

But in almost all cases, you can be perfectly competitive with 10 points. Don't let anyone tell you different.

Yes, before I attained the 12 point status very recently, I could still make very comparable weapons to other 12 point smiths in my galaxy. The only difference is maybe a little more condition, less HAM, or higher range mods. With 10 points, you should always be able to max out damage/speed.

As a previous poster said, its all about the resources. It IS ALL about the resources.

I get the picture. I'd even say: It's all about resource SPAWNS. Can't even make BPH's because there's no good spawns, lol...
Guess I'll stick to the ever-popular PH for now...
