Thread: Repair skill broke?

Was talking with another MWS yesterday and he said he had heard that the repair skill tree for clothing/weapons/armor was currently not functioning and it would not matter what your +repair skill was the results would be the same as if you had none. I cant say that I disagree as I have +10 to weapon/clothing and still get reduced overall quality 90% of the time. Anybody know about this for sure?

Current numbers ran by our community supports this anecdote, unfortunately. Thread here.

Well the way I've always looked at it in terms of repair skill tapes/clothing is if you look at your skill mods while the modded items are equipped you'll see "Weapon repair 0 | +8 (or whatever)".
Now having been scout for a long time before I had to drop it I know that if you have mask scent BE'ed clothing or terrain neg skill tapes equipped it shows the skill mods similarly but you have to have a basic skill set (in this case novice scout) for the mods to actually add to your skills. As they stand on their ownn, they are useless.

I believe this to be the case with repair mods: since there is no actual repair skill in any profession tree, the rule applies in the same way, and all repair mods are useless. The bit about this I find the most insulting was the patch notes for publish 6 (?) where we were told "Master crafters now get repair skills for items in their profession field". They seemed to work for a while: I know I got better results.
Then they did something publish before last and f**ked us all over without even ever admitting that they did. They still won't admit it and close threads on here in which players have submitted test results. Frankly every little thing the Devs do to this game code lately has me inching my cursor toward the "Cancel" button...

Dev' Eloper uses Combat Balance Reschedule on you for 6-8 months worth of damage points!
You shoot your mouth off on the forums but miss! You post constructively but it is deleted!
Ubercred It'Duper tips you Cr 27,000,000,000,000,000,000 but you evade it!
Dev' Eloper uses Publish 10 Vendor Fix on you for 55 item limit damage! Your vendors and 12 months of work have become incapacitated!
You use Cancel Account Button on Dev' Eloper for $15 p/m of damage!
Dev' Eloper tries to use JTL Expansion pack on you for $50 worth of damage on you but misses!

You use windows sys32 fdsk utility on StarWars Galaxies program files for 2.4Gb of damage! StarWars Galaxies: An Empire Developed is no more!!

I repair armor/weapons and what i have tried is with a tusken Bandolier giving me +8 to repair and some Bespine Port and Pyrollian Cake it seems my repairs are about 80%. about 1/7 i repair without even damaging the weapon/armour.Apparently the game designers dont like you repairing on an empty stomach!

Now that is interesting, so 80% of the time when using those items you get unblemished repairs?

that's not what he said. 1 in 7 is an unblemished repair is what he said(I've never seen one of those, seen a few 'minor blemishes' but never a full return to crafted durablity)

Cant argue with you there. I remember having good success at fixing weapons and now, all of a sudden, I suck. I get as few successes as I had failures back then. Interesting theroy about the skill tree thing... I'll have to keep that in mind. Thanks.

Your right, I read that wrong. So are the 6 out of 7 reductions in condition? Thats still an improvement over my current success rate though. I'llgive that a try and see what it does for me.

Well gave it a shot. Whole crate of bespin and Pyollian and nothing. Always reducedmax condition by 200, had my repair suit on as well (+10 repair/+9 weapon repair). There seems to be something else maybe I'm not catching... or its just plain broke. :/
