I made some Krayt Advanced Laser Rifles and got differing results by building them differently. I've read others saythat it's best to experiment in speed on components but didn't want to believe this.I used the same pre-CU stocks, scopes and barrels so only the ABPHs changed. I didn't write down all the numbers but I remember enough to give you a good idea of what is happening.
----------------------------------
Advanced Laser Rifle#1
krayt - max 183, speed -0.63
ABPH experiments
aboutfour points in actionmade action -1
about fivepoints in damage added about 5 points to min/max damage
about three points in speed reduced the speed about -0.6 (?display bug may mean this is really -0.06?)
Final weapon
four points in action - action 86
five in damage- damage 460-1130
three in speed - speed 2.46
final dps 323
--------------------------------
Advanced Laser Rifle#2
krayt 178, speed -0.35
ABPH experiments
8 in action made action -7
4 in speed reduced speed about -0.75 (?really -0.075?)
Final weapon
three in action - action 85
seven in damage - damage 499-1181
two in speed - speed 2.53
final dps - 332
--------------------------------
I think I made a better weapon with slightly lesser krayt tissue and one fewer amazing (I got three greats with the second weapon and componentand only two with the first).
I think this is because the experimentation lines have different efficiencies in components and the final weapon crafting.
------------------------------------------
My rough estimates on what experimentation does:
ABPH
damage: +1 per point
action: -1.3 per point
speed: -0.2 per point (?really -0.02?)
Rifle
damage: +22 per point
action: -3 per point
speed: -0.02 per point
-------------------------------------------
This needs a lot more work to get more exact numbers. I seem to get about the same results in ABPHs without krayt. I didn't notice diminishing returns on points between the first point in a line and the last but I experiment with multiple points at a time. If I experimented on speed before damage would I get better speed results and lowerdamage results? I get lots of amazings due to +25/+25 clothes, FS crafting, research city, and bespin so it's hard for meto control for that. However, I still think I can see what is happening.
Effect of experimentation points
Damage: Final Weapon >>>>> ABPH
Action: Final Weapon > ABPH
Speed: Final Weapon = ABPH
Looks like we shouldput points into speed and action in the ABPH andtry to reach max damage on thefinal weapon.

That's basically the consensus, speed/SAC on subs and DMG then either SAC or Speed on Final builds is about the best tradeoff.
