Thread: One of the many broke weaponsmiths have a question

Ok, i'm still not a Master WS, hopefully today or tomorrow, but here's my problem:

I had my very own tent in my player city, I have a Melee and Ranged vendor, along with Powerups & Munitions vendor. Since then 2 more people have moved in, one selling low grade powerups (checked vendor, looks like they're not his anyways). And a Master Weaponsmith has begun selling better product than I. So basically although my vendors get exp for people looking at them, they no longer get meager sales like they used to, now I get Zero.

I've found that selling 32%/16%damage powerups on bazaar is keeping me alive to buy resources to finish up my grind and keep my harvesters in full throttle, but I was considering now that I'm working on my munitions tree, what would be a good price to sell grenades on bazaar while I work on moving my vendors to a better spot, next to a not so well established vendor.

Your thoughts?

Grenades are a tough sell, but can be extremely profitable if you can convince a few buyers to come to you. Remember to tell your customers that grenades give 11x the combat experience so C12's are great for speeding up combat xp grinds. Above those, your only customers will be commandos, so try to make a couple friends who'll buy them from you. Also, selling them in crates is the best way to go, since they're 5 use items and go very fast.

Remember, even though you're not master yet, grenades are not a common thing to go into because of the huge resource costs for relatively low returns. This means that you can probably still find some buyers, even if yours aren't top quality, just because you have something.

If you're already into selling powerups you may want to offer powerups with your grenades as well. I've never tried this myself, but I bet you'd get a few people to bite with something like, "Buy a crate of grenades at xxxx, and get a free crate of damage powerups!" If you've got the spare resources for the powerups, this may be something you would want to try.

Good luck.

Grenades take forever to make and aren't very profitable, but you'll sell TONS of them. No one really cares about the stats because they're only used for the "grenade trick" to gain combat exp faster so just use whatever random crappy metals you have and people will buy them anyway because they don't have any other grenade sources to compare stats with.

Grenades will sell massively if you market them right.

Honestly, if I were in your position, I would load up my factories for a night of grenade runs. Then, I'd march over to my server boards with snazzy marketing like, "Need to level fast? Trying to skill up quickly before the big nerfs? Get your combat experience the quick way, with a crate of grenades!"

I make 1500 max C22s with average crap at Master. I'm sure you can do just as well, they're not a hard market to drive and they are in extremely high demand.

If you're short on cash to finish grind take the survey mission route. Equip a weapon and take 2 fer or non fer metal missions to where you *know* there's a 70% vein. These pay 1800 each (so that's 3600 per trip).

With a mount, this is a very quick and profitable (if very boring) way for the crafter to grind cash. Remember it's pure profit, and you don't need to use resources and factories like you do for power ups or grenades.

Dev' Eloper uses Combat Balance Reschedule on you for 6-8 months worth of damage points!
You shoot your mouth off on the forums but miss! You post constructively but it is deleted!
Ubercred It'Duper tips you Cr 27,000,000,000,000,000,000 but you evade it!
Dev' Eloper uses Publish 10 Vendor Fix on you for 55 item limit damage! Your vendors and 12 months of work have become incapacitated!
You use Cancel Account Button on Dev' Eloper for $15 p/m of damage!
Dev' Eloper tries to use JTL Expansion pack on you for $50 worth of damage on you but misses!

You use windows sys32 fdsk utility on StarWars Galaxies program files for 2.4Gb of damage! StarWars Galaxies: An Empire Developed is no more!!

Hi,

I am a fledlgling like your self and I found slicers to be exact low level ones buy my cdef pistols and my survival knives up. I also started the power up route and took the sugestion of throwing in an unsliced d18 or carbine sells faster than I put it up.

I make a meager 5000 a day that way. I also buddy on missions with guildies and I can pay harvestor and 3 medium house upkeep and still buy beeter weapons

I just switched profession to weaponsmith recently too and am going broke I have invested over 2 million credits in getting to Master Weaponsmith, buying harvestors, factories and paying maintenance. I can't even seem to sell 99.7% repair kit crates at 25k a crate which is crazy cheap considering that's 200 credits per use.

I'm hoping that since Irolunn Gas and Ostrine Ore have finally popped and I can make advanced power handlers now I will be able to make better weapons and start being able to make little more money selling them.

My only repeat business has been Auk's, Wuk's and Mines w/ powerups.

The only sure fire way of making money as a weaponsmith is to make better weapons. Period. When you start using all advanced components in your weapons and you have a couple months of resource spawns under your belt, the money will start rolling in. The early WS's didn't have this problem because they didn't have to compete with weaponsmiths who were able to grab a specific resource 3 months before them. That's the problem with every new smith...They're competing against stocks of resources that they didn't have access to and nothing but time or truck load of credits will ever even the playing field. On my server many of the original weaponsmiths now make subpar weapons because they got complacent and stopped upgrading resources when the next best thing shifted in. It took me 3 months to climb the mountain but climb it I did....

work out a deal with the other WS in your town that you make a few specific weapons and he can make the rest, or offer to sell crates of your weapons to him (assumoing you have some that are competitive stat wise)my 2nd account is a WS on radiant and very well established selling a minimum 50 weapons a day and the grind maintaining a 400 weapon stock vendor can be a bear, I've welcomed the help of other smiths along the way, just to ease the stress of 20 tells an hour on specific orders and what not

I figured this out a week or so ago and this, it is probably the best thing that happened to me (especially once I got level 4 pistol). I take survey missions whenever I travel somewhere, whether it is checking on my harvestors or taking a trip to another city or planet. I just grab a combination of non-ferrous and/or inert petrochemical missions of 1500 credits or greater. (If I am feeling lucky, I may grab an inert gas or ferrous metal mission as well.) Then, if I am in the same town, after I get 1000m out I start surveying as I run. If I go to another city, I just survey as I go to where I am going to. It is a steady income. Also, when travelling to another city, if you find just one of the resources you picked, you have paid for your ticket and got some credits back.

How do you know when the next best thing shifts in? Are you surveying every day? Checking swgcraft.com? Talking to your guildmates?

It's the mining side of the business that I have the most trouble with.

SWGcraft is a godsend. I check it at least once a day, sometimes two or three times a day. Naboo, Tatooine and Corellia are updated fairly regularly (at least for Cobrantis they are), and easily 90% of the resources will show up on at least one of those three planets. This saves a lot of time and money travelling from planet to planet, though you may lag behind the newest shift by a day or so.
