I admit I've been holed up in my shop since getting master smith - harvesting resources and making special orders....so be gentle with me if I am missing something obvious

I saw on the trade boards a pre-patch Krayt Scatter pistol with opening bid at 80K and going as high as 160K (last check). Last night I made a much better krayt scatter.... 1.9 speed 109-200 damage, low HAMs and around 29% wound....this is all unsliced! Is there something I am missing about pre-patch weapons that make them sooo good? Thanks for the responses.

Here's one possible explanation from a non-weaponsmith: pre-nerf weapons in some cases (especially pistols for bounty hunters and pistoleers) were as good as post-nerf Krayt weapons. And getting a Krayt-enhanced weapon is not for the meek, let me tell you...

Recently, after many repairs, my pre-nerf scatter pistol finally died. I looked at the post-nerf non-Krayt scatters and was quite surprised by thelower damage. So I started looking into Krayt-enhanced scatters. This is where I REALLY got stuck. Just 2-3 identical Krayt tissues go for 200-300k on my server and the tissues are really rare to begin with. That's a lot of $ to most people (me included). And to make matters worse, I have no idea how many tissues I would need fora single scatter (I am not a weaponsmith, afterall). Finally, thereare no weaponsmiths on my server with racks and racks and Krayt weapons; this disappear within hours, and that's if they are ever put on the smith's vendor in the first place.

So...the easiest thing is to buy a pre-Nerf scatter. The alternative? Wade into the mess I describe above and maybe get lucky.

If you put yourself in my shoes, does this make sense?

Scatters take 1 tissue.

Pre-patch simply means that you could use 3 sub-components to modify statistics. Projectile pistol barrel, projectile feed mechanism, and a blaster power handler could all be used in FWG5's, Scatters, and Launchers.

Post-patch means that you can only use 2 of the above sub-components.

Now Scatters got the best treatment out of the 3 guns, as at least you can still use power handlers, and therefore krayt tissues in them. When they implemented the changes, they said they would implement a krayt tissue-like feeder enhancement to offset the changes, but that has yet to surface.

So the main difference between pre and post-patch are that pre-patch have a significant stock speed advantage. Factoring in a krayt tissue, and well as a nym feeder, you could double enhance any of the above weapons.

Now, post-patch max damages were droppped across the board. Min damages improved, as they finally fixed experimentation on projectile feed mechanisms. Lastly, the guns got slower and the lost the speed modifier of the 3rd sub-component.

Er yeah.. I wish medcenters would heal wounds quicker
