This might be the answer:

They started gating the resources. Some of the materials used in crafting weapons when the game launched are just no longer available.

You probably can find better than that d17 though. It's justa matter of looking in the right shop.

Given the choice between style over substance. I'll take a sandwich.

my FWG5's are 2.1sp and 61-171 unsliced ... you must have somehow missed my shop when looking =P

Yeah, you should be able to find FWG5s with max in the 170's. Trick is finding good smiths that bother making them. Wtih so many pre-nerfs still floating around, and many and more Featherweight FWG5's, I don't sell many regular ones. SR combat's use crappy metal, depending on stats that are gated low. The only decent stat pistol seems to be the Republic blaster, which I sell the most of. I didn't look it up anywhere, but the certification on these seems to have moved. New ones require Pistoleer it seems, yet I have an older one that I can use with no marksman skill.

Here are the stats on my dh17 pistols at the moment. 97-144 1.9. So you are right you should be doing beter. Maybe higher then that depending on how good the master weapon smith makes a advanced power handler. I think it you push it real hard. You might get to a minimum damage of 100 maybe 1.7 speed.

Those stats up above are unsliced. So if you base a gun on its post slice then just go about the multiplications.

I seldom make DH17 pistols with advanced components since DH17s do not sell well for me on Ahazi/Talus.

I did put one together for grins and giggles and it came out 1.9 98-150 24.7%

My FWG5s are: 2.1 61-171 21.3%
Featherweight FWG5: 2.4 59-161 20.4%
Republic Blaster: 2.5 68-207 28.4%
Modified Republic: 2.5 68-209 28.8%
Power5: 2.6 63-191 23.1%
SR Combat: 3.1 84-162 26.2%
DX2: 2.4 104-163 25.9%

All stats unsliced.

Revised FWG5 stats, just had to make a new schematic and the newest Unknown Ferrous bumped stats to:
2.1 63-175 21.5% +38@20m

Hello,

I stopped playing SWG for about 4 1/2 months and recently came back. Currently I had a DH17 89-135 2.4 speed made by Woofie (back in the day). I have marksman pistol IV so I have been looking to upgrade (to be able to stay alive better) but for some reason I cannot find any pistols (SR Combat Pistol, FWG5 Pistol, etc) that has better stats then mine.. Now mine is sliced by a master smuggler, but I would expect a pre-slice weapon 2 skill levels better the the DH17 is rated to be able to at least equal the stats of a sliced DH17. Should this not be the case?

I have looked on Corellia and on Naboo extensively, though I know I did not hit everywhere. I also looked a little on Tat by Mos Espa.

Can anyone explain whats up with the Weapon damage?

BTW I am on Ahazi.
