I recently had a nice krayt laser cabine and Rifle made... I got to thinking what kind of powerup would be better if someone where to figure out damage over time. Do you think a Max +32%/Min +16% Damage would be best in the end or a Min. DMG+32%/Speed +16%??? I was thinking that the minimum damage and speed might be better because laser guns have low stats in those. But then again the max DMG is so high that a max damage power up boosts it super high but then you still have a pretty low Min damage and low speed...

If the minimum damage and speed powerup was used maybe it would do more damage over time then a max/min powerup would do... Or it might not make much difference at all and this question is a waste of time lol...

Hope you can follow my train of thought... what do you think??

Min damage powerups are useless on laser rifle/carbine because it's so low that the powerup won't do much. Max/speed are better if you're not speed capped, max/min or max/mind (for rifle) or max/action (for carbine) are better if you're speed capped.

Howdy;

Run into explainations all the time on this issue due to my pricing scheme. I use Hit Point Per Second Squared, which is merely Max ROF x2 (Rate Of Fire).

They see a 2.8 @250 max going for $8K, and another 2.2 @210 max going for $9.2K. The question is Why Is The Better Weapon Cheaper ?? Well, it isn't <grin>

Since there are no Uber One-Shot Kills, the average fight is going to last at least 10 seconds. Assume a Max Hit on both of the above for a ROF, and the 250 will smack 890 worth of damage in a 10 second period, while the faster 210 HP one will have the best of 955. Rate Of Fire becomes much more important over a period of time than Max HP, especially so when you are not getting a True Max, but more of an average 'To Hit' rating.

To answer the question though, it really depends on where your Speed is. 30% of 1.5 seconds isn't much. 30% of 6 seconds matters.
