Thread: Do weapon smiths have a *Hidden* + to weapon repair mod?

Ok i have a very simple question: If i have a low durability weapon, and a weapon repair tool, would it be worth my while to search for a master weaponsmith to repair my weapon? Will he have better success than i would? I ask this because there are no mods in the weaponsmith profession for weapon repair, and yet several people that I know have claimed that weapon smiths repair weapons with a better success rate. Can someone clarify this please?

Mixed reports on this issue.

There is no weapon repair listed in any of the WS skilltree...

However, the devs sometimes tell us random things like "Yeah... you got a repair bonus now! POOF! MAAAAAGGGGGIIIICCCC!"

Through tons of testing, we still have conflicting reports. Some people have said "Hey, I am getting better repair results as a master WS, I just repaired X weapons with a WS, and X weapons with my non-WS alt! The WS repairs came out better!" And then someone else comes around "Hey, I just repaired X weapons as a WS, and X weapons with a non-WS alt! They both came out identical!"

Of course... if you have anything that needs to be repaired... put it in your bank right now! Repairs are severely fudged up right now, don't risk losing your weapon (or losing too much condition) when you don't have to!

In the old system it seemed like WS produced less condition loss on successful repairs than non WS, but they broke repairs in the last big patch and WS have terrible success rates now. If you get it repaired before they fix this, it won't matter whodoes it because it's got an 80+% chance of crap repair even from a master WS.

Before the last patch, you had about 80% chance of high success on repairs. Now someone changed the numbers, because I would say 80% of the time you get a medium repair, 15% great repairs, 5% total failure. But this was done to help us by decaying weapons faster so our customers will have to buy more weapons.

From what I've heard I think decay in general needs a major revamp.

I'm a master pistoleer, and shooting at the speed cap spamming specials, my guns lose half of their durability in about 2 WEEKS!

There are many motivations to buying new weapons, losing a weapon to a failed repair should not be one of them. If a repair system exists in game, it should be much more like the current speeder-bike repair system. You should simply give your gun to a master weaponsmith, they fix it for a fee dependent on its durability, and you get your weapon back. They'res no need for this "the weaponsmiths need more business" mentality: you guys are probably the most important class in the game. Making repairs have a higher success rate will absolutely not change that.

NO, this a myth despite what the Knowledge Base or any other SOE source tells you. I have been a Master WS/AS for well over 8 months and I have never had better success rates vs. using my non-crafting chars. The only variable that matters is the quality of the repair tool.

I can't begin to count the number of suits of composite armor I have repairs where I utterly destroyed half of the pieces using 999 Con Copper tools. These are 99.909999% tools.

Don't start to spread rumors about it. We know nothing about the reasons for the bugged repairs. I would wager the guess:

It's a bug, not a feature.

My advice is simply not to repair anything until this issue is fixed. 99% of the time i loose about 200 condition on each item i repair having +21 repair clothing. The repair system is obviously broken.
