No doubt there. My guild has easily given me a million credits over the last 2-3 months, and I'm just now getting on my feet with some serious sales. (This weekend I made my 1st set of 4 yellow Sythe blades, free & clear.
).
If your serious about starting down the road to weaponsmith:
1. If you don't have a good source of income established, then get one; be it money missions, scout harvesting, resource prospecting or a second craft. You'll need a fullarray of medium or heavy harvesters to start stock piling the resources you'll need toopen a serious business, and you'll need to be ready to fork out 150k-200k a week to move them around and keep them from burning down.
2. READ THE FORUMS & BROWSE THE WEB! Learn everything you can! Being a WS isn't hard, but there are things that aren't obvious to the casual observer. Learn how assmebly & experementation work. Learn about selection of options, & how they will affect your product. Learn about hidden resource caps. Learn what loot drops from where, and what items they can be used to make. Learn what weapons are in demand by what trades, and why. Learn how tolimit "Tell Hell".
3. When you begin to get on your feet, specialize. To be a premium full service smith, you'll need resources to fill around 90 different resource/property catagories. You'll need to know whats considered "Good" for every weapon, combat trade & situation in the game and what they're selling for. By focusing, you can limit the pain, and expand your wares atyour own pace.
4. Take time to window shop the competition. What are they charging for their goods & what kind of stats are they offering? An Adv Jawa doesn't take that much more material than a scoped & stocked Tusken, but youcan't base your prices on units of material per item and expect to stay competitive.
5. Take your time & have fun with it. Weaponsmith is a long grind to Master, and a bear to get initial materials for. Take your time, you'll get there. If you get burnt out on the grind, take a break from it. Play at another part of the game for a bit, but keep those harvesters going. It'll take longer to get all your materials than it will to grind master anyway & you might be lucky enough to have the materials for heavy warheads spawn during your break. (I had both skevon & hydron spawn 2 days after I mastered with metal staves... :Bangs head: thump... thump... thump...)
Va-Mei you got it pretty bang on there. I've been a Master WS for a couple months now... and I spend way more money getting resources than I make... But I expect this to change once I have a good stockpile....
But MAN... Crafting wepons is awsome!!!! Do it because you enjoy Crafting. If your in it to make some fast money.. you could be in for a long and expensive grind... but it can be quite rewarding... Take your time.. learn and enjoy the proffesion... and when you least expect it the money will come!

I find it great in keeping my attention and at the high end of the scale ,as fars as smiths go, you will make good coin. But expect to spend the first few months resource gathering and learning the true art of weaponsmithing.
so true, the first 1 or 2 months (after you master it) is the time you get your ressources and try to understand how the whold thing works, and it's quite pricey when it comes to good ressources.
