Thread: Does people really buy unsliced weapons? Is M-WS worthless without having slicing skills?

I am master weaponsmith however I have never sold anything since I was doing it for myself and friends. Never thought about going into business.

But thought about it lately now since I wanted to try something new, opening up a weapons business, I travelled to many places checking out the vendors. I have noticed that there arent many unsliced weapons for sale but *numerous* sliced weapon vendors like you wouldn't believe.

So it made me think: Being weaponsmith making unsliced weapons isnt good unless you have Smuggler's slicing tree to compliment with your weaponsmith skills then you would be very marketable in weaponcrafting business.

So I have question for you, Master Weaponsmiths who doesnt have Slicing skills. Does people really buy your unsliced weapons contantly? or slow business? or what? I would love to know before I try setting up business and see how it is.

Thanks in advance!

I mostly sell unsliced weapons and as long as the price is good you'll have a great business. I clear a few million each day.

My whole business is based on unsliced weapons. I do pretty well. Up to 200 transactions a night.

If a veteran player is looking for one of my weapons with a real good slice, well I have weapons by the crate available. My crates of weapons often cost as much if not a little less than what most weaponsmiths on my server will sell a nicely sliced weapon.

In general what my weapons cost, would probably be considered whole sale prices compared to most smith's on my server. And I really don't start making a profit on weapons until a good number of them are bought.

You either need 12pts, or Master Smuggler skills, or a really big rich guild, or a lot of rich friends (which falls into big rich guild catagory) to make it as a weaponsmith.

I can at least guarantee that any weaponsmith on Wanderhome with 7 figures in their bank is going to have at least one of those.

I, on the other hand, am a 10pt smith, no smuggler skills, a poor broke guild, and just a few close friends who are also broke. I have a total of 3k credits at the moment.

You're better off running missions. The market is too crowded with rich, 12pt smiths for you to compete.

I have 6 vendors in my mall

Unsliced Standard Melee
Unsliced Standard Ranged
Unsliced Specality Melee
Unsliced Specality Ranged

Sliced Speed
Sliced Damage

I make about 10 mil per day. Out of the 10 mil 4 covers the cost of componets and resources so I'm able to clear 6 by selling both.

I just sell all the mega high end weapons unsliced and slice tons of crates of T21s and VKs for example. Hell a T21 on my server sells for around 44k but if you grab the resources all yourself it only costs you like 2k to make it, then you slice it... hit 30% on damage and thats a 450k gun right there.

I've never sold sliced weapons. Ever. It's just one more step in the vendor stocking process that I don't want to fool with, AND it has the potential to DE-value my weapons.

So yes, you can do quite well for yourself without selling sliced stuff.

You make money depending on price. I can sell 190 dmg vk for 50k but then I sell my 205+ dmg for like 300k, while the speed sliced usually go from 500(randomly stock some of each weapon cept t21 for that price) for like 5k if that.

We Valcyn WS's have been fortunate in keeping the pre-sliced stuff to a minimum. Most smiths will have a sliced vendor for very popular sliced weapons such as T21's and VK's but will primarily sell unsliced. I know on some servers that pre-sliced is the status quo and I thank the stars every day that Valcyn isnt one of them.

Finding a Smuggler to slice weapons takes too much time.. so most of my weapons are sold unsliced

If I make a weapon with looted enhancements.. I usually slice it

I have a good friend that slices all my stuff. Sometimes we slice/post about 300 weapons per sitting. Usually just about 150 at a time. Yes the slicing/pricing sucks but you can make much more money on average by slicing. I get about 20k for a low speed sliced VK, a 190+vk I get 100-200k for.

If you go by sheer volume and low price to make it economical for someone to slice their own, you WILL make money.
