Just a warning out there...

I had my ingame friend palce a factory for me, as I was shuffling stuff around a bit. I put all my geno stuff in it, matched sets of yellow res and green power cubes and matching paste for scythe blades. I had paid the maint on it and thought 2 weeks was enough and I know I'd be done with the shuffle by then.

well, you can probably guess what happened......I spaced it, my friend forgot to tell me that a notice had been sent and I lost 20 mill in cubes. New Policy, I now will control all my factories. It wasn't worth loseing a good friend over, and I still think he's the greatest. and reassured him it's a loss I can live with, and his company was worth more.

Just a warning GO CHECK THOSE FACTORIES!!!

What is the deal with the disappearing factories? Is it from not using them...from a canceled account? bug? all mine are storing are bout 900 mineral survey devices I acidentally made by just dropping my whole block of copper in there and going to bed...Forgot the next day to trun it off once I was ingame...

I have a feeling something else is going on here. I topped off all my factories with maintenance last week and this week I had seven poof. It is almost as if either 1) the factories don't repair when you add maintenance or 2) they are eating maitenance at an accelerated rate. Anyone else having a problem?

I lost too much to recover. I am prolly going to turn my crafting belt in

I think the point is that SOE could do much more to notify owners of an impending poof. It's almost as if they *want* this to be a frustrating experience. Do any of you work in Information Technology? File server space is always an issue. Do you warn the systems admins when the file server is 99.99% full? No. You set the threshold a bit lower. Maybe warn at 85% and send a critical notice at 95%. Why can't SOE do the same thing for structures? Heck, it also applies to things in a vendor's stockroom.

These losses may ultimately be our fault, but there is so much more SOE could do to make it less frustrating for us. Making a change like this would also significantly reduce the number of CSR tickets they have to field due to missing items. It would be a win/win for us all. So, why haven't we seen something like this? Have they not thought of it, or do they consider it an area that does not need improvement?

I don't know about you guys, but the single worst thing about being a Weaponsmith is having to manage all of the resources, components, et al necessary to do the job. It's the reason I'm going to one day quit the game. And the sad thing is, it's something that SOE could improve with minimal effort.

What do you guys think? Am I alone here? If not, /sign away. Let's see if we can get some attention to this.

Whatever happened to just checking them on a daily basis? I use 3 factories and I check them all daily, it isn't all that difficult.

Well i store Cubes and that stuff not in my factories but in vendors, so my factory only had Projectile Feed Mechanisms and Warhead Stabilizing Devices in it ... at least i got the resources back from a CSR.

Are you using your factories as storage? I do not. But maybe they go because of that...That would be totally unfair ofcourse. But maybe...

Not everyone plays every day. It kind of ridiculus on how fast the factories eat up maintnence. Even when you do get the notice, you have less then 24 hours to throw money into them. If you logged off on Friday and decided you wanted to do something not related to SWG on the weekend, you'd never get a notice before you signed back on.

I have had at least 5 factories go poof. Most of them have been filled with crates of molecular clamps(like 40 crates of molecular clamps in one) or empty. Its sad but I wont put in good stuff in a factory for storage. I leave that to my few houses and try to keep at least 40 days or so of maintance at least in the houses.

Not everyone is master merchant and can store 3000 items in a vendor. Oh wait you aren't supposed to store items in there either.

The only other solution is houses, which only give 75 items per lot.

I use factories as storage, but I know the risk, I have lost 1 factory full of stuff once, but won't again because now weekly I top them all off to 100k credits (about 2 months of maint).

If we had 1mil unit stacks and loot that would "stack" (same serials take up 1 space like a factory crate) this wouldn't nearly be an issue.

i had 1 go poof, it was due to a camp spawn(a building with thugs around it) I'm possitve about this as i had another nearby and was setting up to do a run when the spwn occured right on my factory,i hoped that after the spawn dissapeared the fact would be there, but next day no spawn no factory ,poof 900+ 21/42 abph's gone.At least i had already pulled the resources out of the input beforehand.

Oh yeah, no email comes when this happens,so if yer fact went poof and ya never got the email about dmg, this is prob what happened
