X-Force Weapons Website - Now XHTML 1.0/CSS Compliant

Ok, I know most wonder what the heck that even means. It means my site can now be changed/manipulated much easier than before. Going over the thousands of lines of code (yes thousands), I spent many hours polishing everything off. Given I knew about 1% of what I know now a year ago I'm pretty proud of myself. I have also streamlined many of my php programs including my most popular Weapon Enhancer/Slice Calculator. I am open to suggestions on format changes to make the site look better. Right now the site looks very much similar to what it was before, aside from my no underline links and color change/hover links in the header. Anyway, I figured I would brag a little and give you guys a chance to check it out if you haven't already. Right now I am approaching 10,000 unique IP visits and 60,000+ page views. If you think something should be added to the site, such as a link or other info, please use the comment page and it will send off a quick e-mail to me, (no email program needed, just submit the form).

Thanks

I think you have a good thing here.

What I would like to see is some logic built in that says "Oh you're building a Rifle, so you can only choose between the rifle barrels"

You know, keep the sub-componentry selections consitent with what the weapon will take.

Adding in these conditions shouldn't be too tough if your form inputs are rendered dynamically.

Thanks..

That has been on the back burner while I finished with other things. The form isn't dynamic right now, that is why I added all types/parts to each selection. I think what I need to figure out is how to make the form auto submit when say "DL44 pistol" is selected then rerun the database queries to filter out the parts.

You could do it a piece at a time. Just put the variables in $_GET[]

You are presented with 1 dropdown. You pick Laser Carbine, and submit manually (or auto)

As the page renders it is filled with if statements looking for the variables in $_GET[] and when they appear, it draws the appropriate next set of choices based on the base weapon.

I know there's a way to make form menus do an auto-submit, I just don't remember off-hand.

I have really enjoyed teaching myself how to program in .PHP. Every time I write something I am amazed at how complete a programming language it really is.

In any case, great job. How did you determine what the damages will be? I must have missed it when the formulas were discovered

Hmm.. I dont' knwo how to autosubmit either, but I'm sure it can be done. Otherwise I can just add a "filter" button to the right of each selection to refresh.

I have been messing with PHP off and on since July last year and agree that it is a very nice language. I never thought I would get into programming, but really that is what PHP, a programming/scripting language.

As for the values, there is no "formula" that I know, I just crafted each "base" weapon, wrote down stats, then added in stock, scope or whatever to double check what they "should" come out as on my server. SWG rounds wierd sometimes, so my final builds on the website are sometimes off by 1 dmg here and there, but very accurate for what I sell.
