G'day to my fellow WS's... though I am new to the ranks. Hence this post, I have a few questions that I hope someone can help me with.
Firstly, the whole 10pt/11pt/12pt WS thing. I know this refers to the amount of exp points a WS has to spend upon item creation.
But, as it stands right now I have no Weapons Exp tapes, so what does this make me?
How many points does it take in Weapons Exp to become a 12pt WS?
Is it really worth it to invest in Weapons Assembly Tapes?
Components are another thing I have yet to fully grasp. I have spent the last few days with my ALT running all over the galaxy collecting various components, these include -Gorax Bones
-Acklay Bones
-GEO Power Cubes (white, yellow, green and red)
-Krayt Tissues
-Kliknik Glands
... so I am just wondering, are these the main components that can be looted from defeated creatures?
Of these components, what are the best? And what would they be used to make?
What other components might there be that I should get?
... any help here would be greatly appreciated, as I did not realize there was so much to WS when I started the prof, but have mastered it now and am just collecting resources and components.

If you are a master, you will have 10 points.
You will need a total of +20 in tapes to get 12 points, that's 1 point per 10.
I'm not sure about assembly tapes, I only have +10 and get 29% usually when I assemble something. I guess I never asked is this was good or bad.
Gorax bones - good loot for any kinetic damage type weapon, they go in the enhancement slot for advanced projectile feed mechanisms.
Acklay bones - best used in stun batons and power hammers. If you don't have a super high damage one, it probably isn't worth while to use it. As you will end up with a super high SAC cost otherwise.
Krayt tissue - go into the enhancment slot for Advanced Blaster Power Handlers (ABPH) and are used to enhance any energy damage type weapon, including blaster fists.
Geo cubes - don't waste your time with white or green. Get good min/max yellow, or low SAC red cubes. For reds, I never buy below -9 SAC. Beware pre CU red cubes have no sac value and do nothing.
Bounty Loot - bounty hunter marks are now dropping enhanced power cells (similiar to krayt tissue) and reinforced casings (similar to Gorax bones). The difference in these is, they have a SAC number, generally around -7 to -8.

EDIT: forget Geonosian Solidifyin agents. These go with geo sword cores or geo reinforcement cores (the cores are looted schematics from geo cave). A good damage solidifying agent and a -12 red cube can make a very deadly low SAC power hammer or stun baton.
Rancor teeth - replace sword cores, haven't seen to many of these worth putting into a weapon post CU.

Thats great, thank-you very much... I was told you needed to get 120 total Weapons Exp points to become a 12pt. master WS, was sweating how much that was gonna cost ![]()
So then I only need a total of 20 points in Weapon Experimentation to become a 12pt. Smithy, like that ![]()

Well, you do need 120 points of WS experimentation to get the 12 experiment points, but as a master, you already have 100 of them. Check the box in the middle left side of the skills windonw and scroll down to WS experimentation. That will tell you what you have (including skill tapes if you have that clothing on.)
