Thread: Acklay Bones now worthless? YOU be the judge!

Our next essay on the Combat "Upgrade" has to do with ACKLAY BONES. Since Power Hammers got nerfed VERY BADLY, and Stun Batons seem to be VERY NICE WEAPONS, I decided to make an Acklay Stun Baton with some, better than average bones, 90 min 150 max damage.

Note, you MUST be Master Swordsman to use Power Hammers and Master Fencer to use Stun Batons!

Very nice bones, very valueable pre-CU. However, lets look at the crafted stats, more importantly, the DPS.

post-CU crafted Stun Baton: 330-677 damage 2.12 Speed 112 Special Action Cost (SAC) - 255.64 DPS

post CU crafted Acklay Stun Baton: 403-784 damage 2.29 speed 107 SAC - 275.86 DPS

My question here is whether you used preCU converted subcomps on the non-acklay enhanced baton ... if you did that may be why the acklay weapon is not drastically improved from the unenhanced baton (since preCU converted subcomps are better than what you will now be able to craft). Also on the acklay bone ... my guess is that you are hitting the dmg cap ... I've noticed that within my stocks of krayt adv blaster power handlers that the difference between the base tissues handlers and those made with awesome tissues is not significantly different in damage (still a bit of variation in speed).

New comps? Are you sure you're a 12 point smith?

Stun Batons ONLY use a Reinforcement Core, which the Acklay Bone substitutes. I cannot craft and use a new reinforcement core in an Acklay StunBaton. I do not believe that Power Conditioners will have any stats that will affect the damage/speed/DPS of a Stun Baton also.

And I did hit the damage cap on both weapons. I put 10 exp points into damage and the remaining into speed.

Is this why you say they are nerfed or is it because of the dmg they do now or a combo of both? I am curious becasue I am Swordsman and have not had a chance to really check mine out yet.

While applying a 75 damage with great speed on a high capacity scatter, the dps difference was approximately 30. Not very outstanding. I haven't made any acklay weapons yet, but it seems that from what few krayt tissues I've made the margin of damage betweenbase to mid, even mid togood tissues is fairly slim.

As to power hammers they seem to be just fine, I can make a basic power hammer with post-CU componants to 1000 damage, between it to 286+ dps, which doesn't seem too bad at all. My acklay power hammerw/ 186 max acklay bones, made before the CU, converted to a mere bit over 1000 damage, with the comparibly crummy dps of 264.

He was asking if you used a new or old core in the NON-akalay baton.

The cap he refers to is not your experimentation cap, but the max cap for the weapon type. It's the same cap that makes a slice on a great weapon only come out 5%, but on a crappy weapon can come out 25-30%. Add to that the fact that the enhancements probably fall along a logarithmic scale now, and you find diminishing returnsfor the higher stat components. Under the old system,a bigakalay bone looked better on a baton than a hammer (say a 100% increase in damage compared to a 25% increase) because it was a straight linear relationship, but under the new system you might actually get a bigger gain with a large bone on a large weapon, because the base damage/weapon cap you have to work with is higher.

That being said, since they're both master level weapons, they'll probably come out quite similar.

Moron. Re-read the post you're flaming. It's too late to avoid looking stupid, but you could at least apologize.

I don't think its all that bad considering the changes to slicing.

The acklay bone still gives a nice damage increase, but the speed is increased.

Seeing how the speed and damage slices seem to be limited to a certain value, a damage slice on this would be very low, but a speed slice would probably be artificially high like maybe 30-40% which would give the final product a crazy DPS if you are lucky enough to get a speed slice.
