I got the schematic to make a Scythe blade and it needs a certain Special Component a Geonosian Sword core. Do I need a special schematic for that or do I use a reg sword core?

Geonosians drop Geonosian Sword and Reinforcement Cores, they also drop(though considerably more rare), Schematics to make your own Geonosian Sword Cores and Reinforcement Cores.

You have two options, use looted geonosian sword cores that are a dime a dozen on the bazaar, preferably you want good sword cores looted, i had some 49-69 damage ones that made a nice scythe. Other option is to get a geonosian sword core schematics which are also cheap and make your own, this requires a geonosian cube each along with a solidyfing agent if you want to add more damage. Since you have to factory run two matching cores per scythe schematic your best bet is 5 matching yellow cores (use green if you want extra condition, though scythes aren't as bad as dxr6 rifles in the condition department) and 5 matching solidyfing agents, usually the agents are 10 to max damage, go for 13 or 18 if you can.

not entirely sure but i noticed that green cubes while making scythes don't result in improved condition of the scythe. i think it's cos the crafted geo sword cores don't have a condition rating (like experimenting on durability on a ABPH doesn't result in a weapon with more condition) so the stats of the green cubes do not "pass-through" to the scythe.

so far the green/white cubes means nothing on scythes....mostly its the ut of your neutronuim steel..which most WS dont stock until this beast...so if you got like a best of 717ut like in my case they goto around 38max dmg and the looted ones can be much better...also the pastes are wierd for number count, never seen more then 5 in a set...so that is another pain when making these scythes...not to mention getting more scythe schems...
