Thread: Speed or Damage? Some other CU questions and ideas also!
Zandergeef wrote:That is my biggest question. I dont know enough about combat in the CU to know if people will cap at a specific speed or if what. It looks from the experimentation that I have been doing that speed changes much better than damage. Also what is with the scopes and adding extra speed are scopes even worth being made?Im having a little fun seeing all the new numbers but I guess sometime Ill have to actually sell some stuff and see if anything that I am making is any good.
Keep in mind that people have speed mods not damage mods when it comes to the DPS that you see. From what I've seen so far it's best to experiment speed in the sub-component, then go all damage and maybe some efficiency in the final build.
Something else to consider is the smugglers seem to be getting speed sliced 60% of the time. And with what appears to be a soft cap on weapon stats, the smugglers are not getting very high slices on well make weapons.
It may be that its best to experiment all on damage, then hope your customer gets a speed slice to round out the weapon.
Another thing to consider is that although DPS is everything, you will get more milage out of higher damage weapons. I think DamagePerHAM usage may start coming into play since we no longer have these awsome secondays buffs anymore. So having a slow high damage weapon will be better than a fast low damage one.
I did some experimentation when TC5 was up. I made 5 metal staffseach with different amount of points in the damage and speed lines.
In this i found the best DPS was when using 9 points in damage and 3 in speed. Concerned that DPSmight bebetter on the other staffsif i had combat skills, i gave all 5 staffs to a master pikeman who confirmed that the 9-3 experimentationgave the best DPS.
This isnt an in-depth test but i think that the base DPS is a good guide evenif you havent got combat skills. I have yet to make a weapon thathas the best DPS when i have hold of it, but when given to someone who has the requisite skills a different weapon is better.

StocksPre-cu stocks for my 40/40 are 40/40 0.0 speed -10 SAC +5 wound
all3 of my schems dont work!!
I noticed that also.. both that my stocks were those stats and also that none of my old schematics seem to work anymore.

Notice the same on my old stocks.
Also, my old converted advanced power blaster handlers turned out way better than the ones I crafted post-curb using the same resources. About the same damage, but the converted ones had -1.66 speed and the new ones only -0.99

same here, luckly i made all mine before the CU.. mine also have -20 SAC not -10
When does Weight & Accuracy come into play? in combat?(isweight the weapon hindrance?)Should this be experimented on?
why is there no stat for weight?
How much does weapon accuracy affect a player? is it more important for lower level players?
