I hope this can be communicated back to the DEVs by our correspondent. I'm not trying to flame but so far I have 3 real concerns.
1. As a 12 point smith I see a huge advantage over 10 point smiths now that a speed bar has been added. Before the 10pt smiths could at least match in speed/ dmg. That is no longer the case. Now for a new smith to be competitive they'll need to sell roughly 20 million credits worth of subpar weapons to buy skill tapes just to be on a level playing field. We rich get richer and the divide grows.
2. With the level and certification requirements, it's hard to know where to price your weapons. The dps appears different to me on a rifle than a Master Rifleman. Weaponsmiths should at least be able to see the maximum damage done by someone certified for the weapon. This can create serious pricing issues.
3. There's no cert info pre-creation. We should at least know if a new weapon is certified for Squad Leader only before we complete the thing. The idea that someone making a weapon wouldn't know who can use it until after it's made is comical.
4. The conversion especially of rifles is a mess. The T21's that cost substantially more to make have lower dps than converted laser rifles on my vendor. It seems odd that a rifle requiring 3x the number of ABPH would do less damage when pre-CU it did considerably more.
5. The fact we can no longer use advanced componets to make basic weapons. This means carbines such as the Laser are left in the dust because they don't have an advanced counterpart like the Laser rifles do. This is a poorly thoughout decision. It creates unbalances in many weapon types.
These are just my biggest concerns with Weaponsmithing. While I appreciate the new weapon types, I've very concerned/ disappointed with the CU as a whole.
