Thread: Best Way to Get Abundance of Resources

Recently i opened my 2nd holo. I drew Master Weaponsmith. In the forums i have read I need about 500k steel to grind out this profession.. Here is the dilemma, I only have about 150k in my bank account and most vendors charge anywhere from 3 -4 credits per unit of generic bulk steel. Which means I need to come up with about 1.4 million credits just to purchase steel i will grind through in less than a week. What is the best way to get these massive amounts of resources.

I have been shopping the idea around to vendors that if they will give provide me with the resources that I will give them several free Krayt Weapons once I achieve master, which when sold easily makes up for more than the cost of 500k steel.

Also, how much would it cost me to place about 6 good harvesters (maintenance and energy costs included) and wait for 500k steel to be harvested? Wouldnt it take a few weeks?

Any ideas are greatly appreciated, also If you are interested in swapping resources for some free krayt weapons please send me an in game email!

Thanks,

Donny Jare

Yep ..... you see the prob all right .... WS is a hard one to launch .... lot's of mining and time ... no other way besides buying a charthat has it off of ebayfrom someone who is quiting the game .... if this is only a holo quest, you may be off the hook next patch anyway because it all changes again .... check it out .... btw .... aftr grinding up a million and a half worth of resources and feverishly colloecting about another 3+ million in resources .... I still can't challenge the established smiths .... so you arn't gonna "sell" through it either ... Good luck!

Don't buy your resources. Mine them. Buy some medium mineral harvesters. Or, since you need artisan anyway, make personal harvesters - if you experiment them right, they'll pull up enough resources for you to master weaponsmith in a few days.

If you don't have the patience for any of that, you don't deserve to be a Jedi.

Harvesters but you already know this !

I have been shopping the idea around to vendors that if they will give provide me with the resources that I will give them several free Krayt Weapons once I achieve master, which when sold easily makes up for more than the cost of 500k steel.

A novel approach but I hope you have those tissues yourself already because buying them is expensive and crafting good weapons and adv power handlers is quite often several months work!

Also, how much would it cost me to place about 6 good harvesters (maintenance and energy costs included) and wait for 500k steel to be harvested? Wouldnt it take a few weeks?

Well I can only say the cost of harvs on Valcyn. 6 Medium BER10 minerals go for 30-40k each (I will stick to the high side for expamples etc) so atm its 6*40 = 240k just to buy the harvester fleet (this excludes a power harvester tho). A medium mineral costs 12k in maintenance and 10k in power a week to run. To run these harvesters it will cost you 72k in maintenance a week and 60k in power. If you get a good spot around 85% for steel then you should have all you need in 2 weeks with some to spare that you might be able to sell to recoup your losses.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated, also If you are interested in swapping resources for some free krayt weapons please send me an in game email! (hehe again I like the idea but if you said krayt tissues you might have more luck).

Thanks,

Harvestors are the best bet for you. Buy 6 10 BER mediums, find a 85-90% spot and you should get all you need in a little over a week. You'll have to buy power too, and pay for maintenance, but it will still be a lot cheaper than spending millions on steel or using up krayt tissues (which in themselves are probably worth millions anyways). Plus you'll have the harvestors to use for future holo-professions, and you can sell off any excess resources you collect.

UGH, well I was checking out the price for BER 10 medium harevsters on Flurry, 120k apiece!

I have a bunch of BER 3 personal harversters thatI grinded out getting Master Artisan, how long would it take about 15 of those (my friend is setting some of them up for me too)?

Thanks,

Donny

Heh, it would take a month for 9 ber4 personal harvesters to mine 1,500,000 units of resources. Unless you plan on using the harvesters in the future the cheapest short term way is to buy it all at grind resource cost. With the longterm in mind tho, better to get some high efficiency heavy harvesters and mine your own. Once finished with wep smith you can then turn these on the next resource type you ned for other careers.

would take about 25 days to mine 1,500,000 if you put all 15 on a 90% resource spot.

MAKE FRIENDS. Best advice. When in a pinch, a very good friend of mine lets me at least "borrow" HIS harvesters... He is a master Arch, and makes 12 or 13 BER Medium Harvesters (better BER than a large someone just "threw" together, and MUCH less maintenance, since it's a medium, not a large).

TRADE. Find resources that someone else needs... that are easy to mine mass amounts off... (like a 90% spot of a high stat chemical, or whatever).. and then trade what you have 1 for 1 or so, for grind steel. Don't limit yourself to ONLY looking for steel...

Both options can be "nearly" free.

Which is why it's handy that it only take 450K steel and not 1.5Million. The point they were making is that buying 500K resources costs 1.5M credits.

No such thing as BER12 or 13 medium harvesters.....
