Thread: question about weapon crafting (de10)

Hi..

First off, I'm a pistoleer by trade, and just recently managed to (finally) get myself a yellow/green de10 barrel, and schematic..

As I understand it, all that is left for me to do, is acquire good tissue (is krayt the only kind?) in order to get the gun assembled.

My questions then are as follows
1) what is 'average' for tissues (ie: +damage), and what is high end
2) can the crafting of these weapons ever have a critical failure? (this would suck beyond sucking lol)
3) what kind of damage range can I expect out of my de10 with average tissues? the highest damage I've seen is nearly 700 damage, with a mother of a powerup on it (something like +130 damage)... I figured it to be about a 550 dmg gun before powerup.
4) how big of a difference will experimentation points make? for example, I have a smith I know who makes very nice weapons, and is a 10 point smith, seemingly this person knows quite a bit about the profession.. and there is another smith I know (not as well) who is a 12 point... but I'm not as confident in his abilities to get an amazing weapon made.

could the difference be noticable (ie: 50 dmg difference?) For example, the 10 point smith made me an LLC recently that was about 760 dmg, 4ish speed, and sub 40 on all the ham costs (which was later sliced for 35% damage! .

Since this is my first de10 I want to try and avoid any mistakes many people may normally make, and get the gun made as strong as possible, while still having a good ham balance... while also not forcing me into bankruptcy.

Also, if anyone has any tips on components to make my new gun uber .. I'd be very interested in hearing any recipes (in pm if necessary .

Thanks

+30 tissues are base. The highest I have ever crafted with, on my server, are +120 tissues. You need 3 identical tissues for a DE-10.

2) can the crafting of these weapons ever have a critical failure? (this would suck beyond sucking lol)

There is always a chance of a critical failure.

3) what kind of damage range can I expect out of my de10 with average tissues? the highest damage I've seen is nearly 700 damage, with a mother of a powerup on it (something like +130 damage)... I figured it to be about a 550 dmg gun before powerup.

This depends on the resources your WS crafts with and the quality of tissues. You are also relying heavily on nice damage slice. The high damage DE-10 you mentioned probably had both high end tissues and a nice damage slice.

4) how big of a difference will experimentation points make?

A +10 WS will be able to experiment a weapon to max damage. I usually use my 2 extra experimentation points to get better condition on the weapon.

Well personally before i did WS, i would always go with the most knowledgeble smith, if one didnt have supirior resources, some smiths even have special resources they use for this kind of crafting.

Get this said first: Me = 10pt smith

Due to the fact that alot of the DE-10 materials rely on Ferrous metal 10pt will be able to experiment on other stuff as well as damage. I didnt have the resources handy so I asked a great smith to help me out a little to which he responded really nicely and got me the best stuff to spawn. The max damage on a DE-10 experiment is around 50%, the plumbum iron and ferrous metal gimp this

I used a yellow barrel, 60 max damage krayt tissue. This resulted in a 3.9 137-331 I think. Got this Sliced 31% DAMAGE !!! WOOT its now a 3.9 179-433. Up for auction of Flurry current bid at 4mil. The parts cost me around 2.5mil so a nice profit here

Base tissues are 30 damage. anything better is good but obviously go with the highest you can find

I second the fact that you should go to the smith you know and trust. With base tissues (+30)and a white letter barrel you might be looking at a damage of around 270-300ish (if i can remeber the only one i made correctly). So the 550max one you saw, more than likely had really good (ie expensive) tissues anda good dmg slice. Yellow/Greenletter barrels are said to have hidden stats on them, which range from +damage to +range and wound. There is know way to know what barrels have what until after they are crafted and then only by someone who has made a few De-10's before and has an idea of what damage to expect from each combine and what range/wound should come from the pistol +/- any scope would be used. As for the HAM, even a 10 point smith can make a scope with +12 rng and 0 HAM, so i suggest one of these if not a higher range one for fear of HAM penalty after combat revamp.

Hope it helps, GL with your DE-10
