Would you like to see the Reverse Engineering mechanics and Tiers come to weapons? Why? Why not? How would it affect Weaponsmiths?

I'm not sure how tiers work, but I think bringingreverse engeneering to SWG is a great thing.

As an old E&B player, there was one great truth all craftsman had to face, you may have maxed your trade, but until you get your schematics, you couldn't make anything worth buying.

With the amount of loot only items involved in that game... Rare was the craftsman that could make everything from their trade.

Even if you could make the device in question, could you find someone who was able to make the components? Simply crafting some of the great items was sometimes a quest unto itself.

Logically there's no reason why they can't extend the Reverse Engineering concept to other crafting professions. However, I'm not so sure I want them to. Many WS already complain about being 'assembly monkeys' for one-use schematics and rare loots. Reverse engineering for weapons will make it only worse. Also, from what I've heard, RE components are generally superior to crafted ones. Reverse engineering could end up killing the other elite crafting professions. Why pay 40K for a high quality T-21 when an RE'd one will be superior and you could probably find a WS who would be willing toRE it relatively cheap. It turns our services into a simple comodity.

I think it would be fun, yet also risky. I also think that the schematic involved should require some crafting quest or something.
