Thread: Flamethrower frustration

This has been frustrating me for the last couple of days.

I just moved my house recently within the same city (moved from a medium to a large and the large wouldn't fit in the same spot). Before I moved, I could easily make Flamethrowers at 4.7 speed, 437-834 damage using Adv blaster power handlers and standard blaster pistol barrels regularly.

Now, after I've moved (using the exact same materials, components [even same serial numbers], crafting station, and crafting tool),my Flamethrower is 1 point lower (damage 437-833).

Has anyone had this same kind of experience?

Yeah, I've had it happen before like that too. But the weird thing here is that its so consistent. I used to be able to make the better one almost every time, if I only had one or two moderate successes. Now I can't seem to make them at all in the six or seven times I tried yesterday, even with all great successes.

Play around with how you experiment.

I find my best results come from 6,2,1,1,1 (I have 11 points)

Some customers care a lot about that 1 point. I've lost customers over 1 point before. Many want the best and 1 point less isnt that.

But I think this guys frustration is jsut that using all the exact same stuff and it's 1 point less, he's just confused.

I've had this happen to me a couple of times. Even if I get great successes on Flamethrower A and Flamethrower B, Flamethrower B might have a stat that's 1 or 2 points lower than Flamethrower A. It's rare, but I have had it happen every once in awhile.

Thanks Itchy, I'll give that a try. I usually experiment one point at a time. Fortunately I've still got my old house up, so I'm going to try to create the FT there where I got the better results using the exact same materials again. And if that actually works, I'm going to freak out, because that means there's some weird random thing going on there that I have no control over.

Yeah, I'm just confused basically. And exactly like you said, many people want the best weapon and if you're even one point below the best, its not the best.

Even though one point of damage can easily be lost or made up in a slice, image is important for a weaponsmith too, in my opinion. Back when I was looking for FWG5s (pre-nerf days), I only bought the ones on my server that were 212 max damage, not the ones that were 211 max damage. Its psychological, I guess.

Save your sanity, and just embrace the thought that crafting is like roleing dice. Sort of like slicing, you truly never know what you'll get. Granted you can get within a window of margin but you always have a fluke "Wow" every now and then.
