Thread: 7-point smith viable?
The similarities between your situation and mine are scary. I too made it to seven-point status rather quickly, and realized that I just didn't have a grider's mentality -- I wasn't enjoying the crafting unless I was making something. I eventually got myself a Weaponsmith's Toolkit, which made me an eight-point smith, and had a blast selling newbie weapons on the bazaar all the way up to Master (took me over two months to do it, by the way).
And I enjoyed every step along the way. I just made Master this weekend, and let me tell you -- not only do I have the resources to make what I need, but I also know my profession inside and out. Not to mention the fact that I sold every single weapon I ever made along the way.
That's why I always chuckle at these "can a ten-point Smith compete in a twelve-point Smith Market?" posts. I did just fine as a seven- and eight-point Smith, so I don't see why not ![]()
Thanks for the prompt replies...
Both have valid points - I suspect there will still be an element of grinding, though it's customer driven (I've hadalot of requests for gaderiffi batons), so a quicker approach to the grinding element is welcome.
And encouraging to read WookieeToo's comments... what, by the way, is a 'weaponsmith's toolkit'? Sounds like it's something I want!I very much like the idea that by tackling this with less or no more grinding I'll end up being very familiar with the profession.
[My other char is a Master Doc on FarStar... bumped into another Master Doc once who asked if there was any way to cure poison...!!! He'd grinded (shouldn't that be "ground"?) up the profession, and as a Master didn't even know the basics of the profession. Very sad... but I suppose exactly what the holocron system was bound to produce.]
Right, I feel a lot more optimistic, now - time to spend a bit of cash decorating my store!
[Edit: Oh, and congrats on getting to Master!]

It will just zoom through WS grind like nothing.
