Thread: Weapon Pricing!!
I kept low on melee weapons in the beginning coz my associate wanted to keep a low-price shop.
I've steadily increased the prices and I even seem to have sold more after that.
Most important is to have the best quality and a nicely stocked vendor.
I calculate my prices at around 90-95 cpu, except the lower level weapons like heavy axe, metal staff, dagger,... where i charge around 30-40 cpu (in case there would be newcomers to the shop with low cashlevels) and that seems to work pretty good for the moment.
Sure it sounds like a great idea with all the melee in the game right now, but sadly it really is not. If you are looking to make a nice profit. Melee weapons tend to be made easily. So even the most inept crafters are makeing tons of melee weapons. Also with the geonosian schematics out there you really are at a disadvantage unless you get your hands on some.
I suggest you start with base priceing say 3 k to five k on the melee weapons. Then if you notice demand raise the price slowly.
Yeah I agree with the ease of make and low pricing. Below shows STANDARD vs.SLICED prices on shop in WanderHome and prices vary a lot from server to server so unless checking your current server you will get many different schemes.
Charge more if they keep disappearing faster than you can make them (bump 1K increments until a happy MAKE vs. SALES medium is reached). Remember that Location is actually more important than Stats for overall SALES. And, For regular repeat customers, you can be located about anywhere since they will keep on coming if treated like people.
This discussion never dies does it?
Well first off cover your costs. If you gathered your resources look at what it cost to obtain them. I'm not sure of a correct formula for this would be. I usually go with a standard of 3 to 5 credits per unit of resource as a cost estimate. I then check the market and the quality of my goods compared to others if mine are superior then I charge a slightly higher price. If my goods are inferior I still sell them but at a mark down. Even if your goods are not as good as other smiths people will buy them but you need to get better.
If I have to pay for the resource then I try to factor in the cost associated with the purchase. I find at times you may take a loss but you can certainly make up for that with volume sales of other weapons. I'll take that loss because I really want to try to have everything in stock.
The market sets the price. If you price yourself to high you wont sell. If you price yourself to low then your burning your resources. I usually visit 3 different weaponsmiths and look at the average price. I apply the superior/inferior mark up or down to the averageand try not to lowball my fellow smiths. Some folks have had access to some superior resources and you'll find that they will charge alot for their weapons. These premium smiths get the bulk of the business because they have the financial means to make Krayt enhanced or loot dropped weapons. When you start out don't even think of trying to compete with these folks because it's not possible. During this time just be the best smith that you can be.
