how can you tell if a weapon is prenerf before you obtain it? Sorry about the original post

You can't. You have to take the seller's word for it in about 95% of cases. Some weapons -- namely pre-nerf scatters and FWG5s -- have stats that are so ridiculous that they simply HAVE to be pre-nerf. But it's highly doubtful that someone with such a weapon would sell it.
