I was contacted ingame by the winner of an auction of a set of 3 acklay bones. No ordinary bones these, max dmg 305. He wanted 3 batons crafting. I was happy to do it, but as ever when crafting with someone elses loot, a little nervous.
Yeah, you can guess what happened with the second bone when I hit the assemble button. Only the second critical i've ever had since mastering the FS crafting lines (I am also maxed on all form of WS tapes including assembly).
Gutted doesn't even begin to describe how I felt. Luckily he has been a crafter, and was very pragmatic about it.

i feel your pain. Rememeber its not your fault though, you did what you could (unless you pressed the "please crit on me" button in which case it kinda is), look on the bright side, you critted on some nice bones
Tell that to your grand-kids
Ive been a crafter since i started playing, i know exactly what you mean
cheer up, there is weapons to be made

i rarely critical anymore with polycake, fs bonus and since the reductoin in criticals but it does still hapen. I make a ton of ris and high end armor and weapons and i always chat with the person first about the posibilty if im using there stuff. I also make sure to take a screen witht he critical message on the screen and email it to them cause a good friend of mine got burned on that a while back where he criticaled but didnt take a screen then several weeks later after making a gun for himself out of a similar quality tissue the person decided that he would attempt to paint the smith as a cheat and with no way to prove one way or the other that is going to hurt your rep.

I'm just glad I did 2 critical failures on some advanced BPHs today. Ticked me off really. devs should make it so you can't get 2 critical failures in a row when you are master WS. I would have been majorly miffed if I had critically failed making my exe hack or my clients scythes that I made him.

yeah, its always sucks when this happens...at least your guy was cool about it, the worst is when you get some kid who can't comprehend it...that gets annoying, one of the reaons why I almost never do custom work for non-guiles or friends, helps preventing people taking to the forums to try and flame you.

for all custom orders i ask for the loot to be left with me, i like to take a prolly cake for every assembly and a bespin port for every 2 points i exp . u get the odd customer who likes to stand over u and pressure u to make the weapons straight away, just tell them if they want u to make the weapons they must leave the loot with u so u have time to take these foods to prevent the crit fails

I feel your pain, I crit failed on the first 2 sets of 11 identical Tissues I ever had the chance to try and craft a Krayt T21 with. I almost quit weaponsmithing over it. Needless to say, I was less then enthusiastic about the opportunity to work with a 3rd set which happened to be Legendary Tissues. Luckily, that set worked out.

that would really suck if you screwed up on a legendary/exceptional set of krayt tissues. BEs have it the hardest. We mostly use enhancements to make the weapons better while we (master BE on radiant) have a high percentage of failure on a special set if items called Mutant Rancor DNA for making the genetic template.

Ouch I feel for you
I had bad luck, not with crafting but with slicing.
I crafted 1 krayt D-10, 2 krayt scatters, 2 krayt carbines, and 2 scyths yesterday and today then gave them to my slicer. every single weapon received a speed slice ranging from 15%-25%. I was and still am annoyed lol

Well thats why I kind of refuse to sell sliced weaponry. I worry about the slice percentage and all plus if it is dmg or speed. Got a 25% speed slice on my exe hack which begged for a dmg slice. It had 3.4 speed 161 min 300 max dmg and came out to almost a scythe with 2.5 speed 161 min 300 max dmg.

Try having some Max 124 Tissues, and not being close enough to the crafting station while making a Power Handler Schematic
Good thing they were my own tissues hehe.

Pyollian cake
No Battle Fatigue or wounds
Assembly Tapes
That's all it needs, in 4 months of custom work i've NEVER gotten a critical failure on a custom job, and i've done hundreds (I don't have FS crafting either)
Crafters need to be a little bit more responsible, after all it's loot that's worth millions, don't take risks on it, let your stomach clear and heal your BF

My heart goes out to the BE community. You guys really are the red headed step-children of the crafting professions. All the hours you spend collecting DNA (especially MR DNA), the fact that you have NO skill tapes what so ever and such a high rate of critical fail, even for master. My husband is BE, so I hear all kinds of sweet words that come out of his mouth when he critical fails after hours of collection DNA.
