I know, that before the CU, that weaponsmiths with great weapons were few and far between, and the best ones were the ones that have been around since the beginning. I was wondering, that now after the CU, is weaponsmithing easier, or will i expect to pay a fortuine for the older resources in order to make good weapons for my customers. Also, is it almost required to be a 12 point smith to be good at it? I'm pretty sure i can't afford to get +20 in experimentation if i have to buy the resources.
Edit:
What are the main named (like, Carbonite Steel), specific resources that weaponsmiths need?

Not to discourage you but, weaponsmithing is a costly venture to start. You can do OK in a niche market without 12 points. Right now the extra 2 points are more important then ever. Plus there are many named resources, some that are very old and rare which will cost a fortune. Finally take into account all the ADK's out there, a player can acquire a great weapon and use it forever.
Then a big slap in the face are quest weapons that are better then what smiths can craft. I stayed a smith for something to do other then combat all the time, but lets just say Im not getting rich real fast doing it.
