Ive currently got a crafting character who is master artisan, and im loving the crafting game. Elite wise i have a mix of tailor/DE/architecht at the moment just for playing about, but was thinking of goin weaponsmith. My main concern is that, as i understand it (pre-cu anyway), to be a competitive weaponsmith you are pretty much required to get +20 experimentation in skill attachments, and access to resources that no longer spawn on the server (or use resource kits). Since the combat upgrade, is this still the case, or can one be an effective and competitive weaponsmith using current server resources and default experimentation (possibly + toolset/crafters apron etc)?

Thanks

answer:

You NEED the best ressources possible. That mean buy them or harvest them, or ressource kit them, but that 90% of a good weapon

For the +20 exp...sadly, while before CU you could compete without them, now that u have so much important lines to experiment on...you WILL do good weapon, but a 12pter will always make better ones

I started up not long ago on the same server... and yes as has been said resources are extremely important.

From what I can see, currently onIntrepid there are 2 very good WS resources spawning, some great Phrik Aluminium and Durralloy steel, so occasionally you do get lucky with current resources, but just because they are not currently spawning doesn't mean you have to go out and buy a load of resource kits.

I spent a few days trawling through vendor search and travelling round checking out vendors - I got a lot of very high quality WS resources doing this, also keep your eyes out for WS leaving the game or switching proffs as they are another great way of getting good resources.
