Thread: New WS starting out
Hey there.....making money as a new guy seems like a daunting task....but it's easier than you think. Try and get some decent harvestors. If you can't afford them, and can't borrow any from a guildie, then make some personal extractorrs with a BER of 4. (You can either buy these for cheapor even find a crafter to make them for you. If I saw you on my server and instead of asking for money, you asked for some personal harvs, I'd make them for you for free.) Find a good resource and a spot with a high concentration (Say in the 70%'s or higher). My advice...just drive around, perhaps naboo, and look for large clumps of heavy mineral extractors, odds are that's an experienced person mining up some good stuff. Once you harvest some goodies, go ahead and sell them on the bazaar. You can easily get 5-6 CPU for resources as long as they are of high quality and a usable resource type. Try websites such as www.swgcraft.com or www.swgresource.com (I think those work) Anyway, once you start getting some money from resource sales, go ahead and buy some crappy resources off the bazzaar. You might see some crap stufffor 1-2 CPU (thus double or tripling your production). Use this crap for your grinding.Take some of your $$$ for harvester maintenance and power. Eventually you'll want to get a harvester with a BER 14 so that you can really start pulling stuff out of the ground. Just keep at it. Grind away the junk you buy, and sell the good stuff you mine.It takes some effort, but this is the best way (that I know of) for a young player to get into some money.
There's another thing you can do as well....you can pick up scout, and perhaps a little combat skills and go find a hunting group, say on Dant. While there, you can hang out away from the action and let others do the killing, but once the creature is dead, go and harvest the hide. You can sell hides in the same way as you can sell other resources. This would be a great way to earn additional money while you wait for your harvestors to fill up.
When you start advancing in WS, I recommend you go for 0 0 0 4 first. The experimentation line is the most important. This will allow yo to make quality weapons (as long as you have quality resources) If you pick up some merchant and place a vendor or two. (to start getting merchant xp) you can name them somethign like "Low CL weaponry" After you get 3 0 0 0 merchant, you can list these vendorson the global map (Will increase your sales). Youshould be able to sell some of your stuff since most master WS's don't get heavily into the low CL market. Might charge $5000 a weapon, not big dollars, but it will all go into your ever growing bank account and will certainly add up.
You'll eventually want to get an equipment factory because the more advanced weapons require multiple "identical" parts, which are only obtainable by looting them, or making them in factory runs (Preferred method).
Before you know it, you'll be a Master WS and be well on your way to a happy career in weapons crafting.

samijx wrote a great post, why'd you not read it?
i did and i found it very informative
I would definitely advise getting harvesters and selling resources - check out swgcraft or just go out and survey (swgcraft doesn't seem to be as up to date as it used to be)
If you can only afford 1 heavy harvester and enough power for a week, find a good spot and you could pull 100k or so over a week. Sell for 4-5CPU if its good stuff, maybe more. You have then made enough to buy a couple more harvesters and repeat over the next week. It won't take long before you have made a few million and then you can start building your own resource stock up.
Learn the names of the resources you need. Search for them regularly.
e.g I got beat in an auction for Vime, best ever spawn of Iroluun ... sale price was 28 cpu. Last night i picked up 50K on a vendor for 2cpu.
