I hunt krayt, I hunt Gorax. I get stocks, barrels, etc from loot drops.
What items should I start stockpiling for a few good rifles? Personally Iusually use an advanced laser and although the new quest rifleshave great looks. I've seen ASs saying they have made rifles with a damage range of 1000-1200, but i've honestly never seen one better than 500-1000 unsliced.
Are there any other components I should be looking for?

Well in all honesty its going to be very rare that you get a stock, scope or barrel drop that is superior to what a decent WS can craft, so probably not worth keeping those... a few of the pre-CU ones are nice but not whats looted now.
Krayt Tissue, since they seem to be much higher damage now on average that before the CU all of them are very nice for WS. Rifles usually need 3-5 Tissues (+1 for the schematic) so if you get drops less than this they are probably going to be best used in pistols.
Gorax bones, as far as I am aware apart from the bezerker rifle not much call for these for rifles. Probably best using them in pistols.

tusken rifles use them as well they aren't that bad but the adv. laser is better.
